EN Standards

Hi everyone,
EN Standards (European Norms) are a set of technical standards developed by the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) and the European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization (CENELEC). These standards cover a wide range of topics including + machinery safety, + electrical equipment, + construction products, and many others. They are designed to ensure the safety and performance of products, improve the safety of workplaces, and promote trade within the European Union.
EN Standards are voluntary standards that are not legally binding but are widely adopted by manufacturers, regulators, and other organizations across Europe. The standardization process is based on a consensus among stakeholders, and the standards are developed by technical committees made up of experts from + industry, + government, and + academia.
EN Standards are recognized as a benchmark for quality, safety, and performance and are accepted by regulatory authorities and certification bodies as a demonstration of compliance with relevant regulations. They are also widely used by manufacturers, suppliers, and purchasers to define product specifications, reduce technical barriers to trade, and improve product safety and performance.
European Standards (ENs) are the primary deliverable of the European Committee for Standardization (CEN). They are developed through a transparent, open, and consensual process that involves participation and input from a wide range of stakeholders, including + industry, + government, + consumer representatives, and + academia. The process involves several stages, including the development of draft standards, public consultation, and final approval. The standards are developed by technical committees made up of experts from different countries and are based on a consensus among stakeholders.
Once an EN standard is adopted, it becomes a national standard in all European countries that have adopted it, and it is recognized as a benchmark for quality, safety, and performance. The standardization process is open for the public, and the individual steps of the process are available for access on the CEN website.
