Solid state relays (SSRs) provide frequent, silent switching of resistance heaters and compatible electrical loads without moving contacts. Select a model for temperature controllers or PLC outputs by matching its control input and load ratings.

Check control input voltage separately from load output voltage. Match AC/DC load type, voltage, continuous and inrush current, phase configuration, and panel or DIN rail mounting. Zero-cross models suit many resistive AC loads; use random turn-on models where required by the application.

The nameplate current does not apply at every panel temperature. Check the manufacturer's heat sink requirements and thermal derating curves, and select short-circuit protection using its coordination data. Off-state leakage current may still flow; an SSR must not replace a device intended for safe electrical isolation.
