When choosing a servo set, consider the supply voltage, continuous and peak torque, operating speed, load inertia and mounting dimensions. Matching motor and drive power ratings alone is insufficient; encoder, control interface and cable compatibility must also be confirmed. Check the product description to establish whether cables and accessories are included.

A motor’s holding brake is primarily intended to hold a stationary load; it should not be treated as a brake for sudden or repeated stopping. Choose a motor with or without a brake according to the axis mechanics and the need to hold the load at standstill.

Servo sets without brakes are an option for axes that do not require a separate motor holding brake. Assess the application’s torque, speed and positioning requirements when selecting a set.

Servo sets with holding brakes are an option where the load must remain in position at standstill, particularly on vertical axes. Determine brake torque, control sequencing and any additional safety measures for the application.

Stepper motors and drives include open-loop and encoder-based closed-loop options. Match the motor, drive and power supply to the required torque, speed and electrical specifications.

Servo gearboxes reduce output speed and increase available output torque. Check the gear ratio, permissible torque, backlash, flange and shaft connection together.
