Limit switches use mechanical contact to signal when a machine part reaches a set position or the end of its travel. Roller-lever, plunger and spring-rod types suit different conveyor and machine applications.

Compare actuation direction and travel, NO/NC contact configuration, AC/DC switching ratings, housing dimensions, connections and IP protection. Check the minimum switching load for PLC inputs and the permitted operating frequency for fast mechanisms. Observe the manufacturer's travel and overtravel limits during installation.

For safety functions, select models with verified features such as direct opening, together with a circuit designed for the machine's risk assessment. Not every limit switch is suitable for safety applications.
