PowerFlex 40 VFD

About;

The Allen-Bradley PowerFlex 40 is a series of adjustable frequency AC drive controllers manufactured by Rockwell Automation. These drives are designed to control the speed of electric motors in industrial applications such as fans, pumps, and conveyors. They offer a range of features including built-in I/O, a variety of control and communication options, and the ability to operate in a variety of environments.

The PowerFlex 40 drives are available in several power ratings and can be used with a variety of motor types. They can be integrated with other Allen-Bradley products such as programmable controllers and human-machine interfaces for complete control solutions.

The Allen Bradley PowerFlex® 40 VFD is a variable frequency drive (VFD) designed for use in sensorless vector control applications. It offers flexibility and powerful performance, as well as additional I/O capacity. Features of the PowerFlex 40 include:

Analog output of 0-10V or 4 20mA (10-bit) for feedback or reference to other drives
Timer, counter, and logic functions to simplify control schematics and potentially reduce hardware design costs
PID capability, along with two analog input channels, for advanced application flexibility
Integral communication options, such as DeviceNet™, EtherNet/IP™, and CONTROLnet™, that can enhance machine performance

Designed to meet global standards and ratings for out-of-the-box performance
Flexible packaging and mounting options, including the ability to mount B frame drives using DIN rail and flange drives to reduce overall enclosure size

Zero Footprint™ feature for panel space savings, and ability to operate at temperatures up to 50°C for C-40° environments
Rated for protection against dust, dirt, and high-pressure water spray, and compliant with NSF International food equipment standards

Easy to start up and commission with an integral keypad featuring a 4-digit display and 10 additional LED indicators, and control buttons and local potentiometer are outside of the enclosure

Quick programming with 10 parameters
Versatile programming and network solutions, including the ability to enable RS485 communication on multi-drop network configurations and connect to any controller with the ability to initiate DF1 messaging using a serial converter module.

DriveExplorer™ and DriveTools™ SP software can be used to monitor and control the drive
NEMA/UL Type 4X/12 (enclosed) rating for direct mounting in harsh environments and UL Listed, also features a popular CopyCat feature for remote and NEMA/UL Type 1 handheld LCD keypad for added programming and control flexibility.

The R1, R2, and R3 pins are for the output relay, with R1 being the normally open contact, R2 being the common connection, and R3 being the normally closed contact. The Analog Output Select DIP switch allows the user to set the analog output to either voltage or current, and the Sink/Source DIP switch allows the user to set the inputs as either sink or source.

The 01 Stop (1) Coast input is for factory-installed jumper or normally closed input for the drive to start,

02 Start/Run FWD input is for command input from integral keypad,

03 Direction/Run REV input is for reversing operation, and

04 Digital Common is the common connection for digital inputs.

The 05-08 Digital Inputs can be programmed with different settings, and 09 Opto Common is the common connection for opto-coupled outputs. The 11 +24V DC and 12 +10V DC pins are for drive-supplied power for digital inputs and external potentiometer respectively.

The 13 ±10V In and 15 4-20mA In pins are for external unipolar or bipolar input supply or potentiometer wiper. The 14 Analog Common pin is for 0-10V In or 4-20mA In, and the 16 Analog Output OutFreq 0-10 pin is for the default analog output. The 17 and 18 Opto Outputs can be programmed with different settings, and the 19 RS485 (DSI) Shield pin is for connecting to safety ground when using the RS485 (DSI) communications port.
