UL 60065

UL 60065 is a safety standard developed by Underwriters Laboratories (UL) that is harmonized with the international standard IEC 60065. It specifies the safety requirements for audio, video, and similar electronic apparatus designed for household and personal use. The standard aims to ensure that such equipment is designed and manufactured to protect users and the environment from potential hazards that may arise from their use.

The UL 60065 standard covers a wide range of safety aspects, including electrical, mechanical, thermal, and chemical hazards. It addresses risks such as electric shock, overcurrent, insulation faults, sharp edges, moving parts, overheating, fire, and the leakage and emissions of harmful substances. The standard also includes requirements for testing and certification to verify compliance with safety standards.

Compliance with UL 60065 provides manufacturers with the assurance that their products meet specific safety criteria and gives consumers confidence in the safe use of these products. The standard is recognized in the United States and is often used as a basis for evaluating the safety of audio, video, and similar electronic apparatus in the North American market.
