Terminal Head Form K type

Type K (Nicr-Ni) Head-Mounted Thermocouples
Head-mounted thermocouples (Nicr-Ni) with different cover types such as chain-screw cover or top-turn cover are equipped with nickel-chromium (NiCr) and nickel (Ni) temperature sensors.
The thermocouple head is an important part
of a proper thermocouple system. The head is used to hold the K thermocouple terminal block and also connects the thermocouple element
to the extension cable. The function of the head is twofold; it protects
the connections from the elements and also provides a fixed temperature
around the connections.
Thermocouple heads are available in various materials and NPT process thread sizes.
Metal heads are made from various materials such as aluminum, cast
iron, stainless steel, brass, and nickel-plated steel. The mounting data
for each product is provided on their respective pages. Additionally,
plastic heads are also available in our stocks.
Head-mounted thermocouple models have several advantages over bayonet type thermocouple models. Firstly, head-mounted thermocouple models are more durable and can withstand higher temperatures,
making them suitable for use in more challenging industrial
environments. Additionally, head-mounted thermocouple models are
generally longer-lasting and easier to maintain, providing longer-lasting and more reliable measurement.
Head-mounted
thermocouple models can also offer higher accuracy and precision,
allowing for more precise and accurate measurements. However, bayonet
type thermocouple models are generally cheaper and provide faster
installation. Therefore, they can be preferred in low-budget
applications. (what is termocouple?)
In conclusion, head-mounted thermocouple models offer higher durability, higher accuracy, and longer lifespan,
while bayonet type thermocouple models are more cost-effective and
provide faster installation. The choice of which type of thermocouple to
use depends on the requirements of the application. (termocouple vs pt100)
NEMA standards for heads are listed to help you select the appropriate head for your application.
The most common NEMA ratings for heads are NEMA Type 2, 4, and 4X. NEMA is defined by the National Electrical Manufacturers Association. NEMA 250-1997 is detailed below.
NEMA 250
is a standard published by the National Electrical Manufacturers
Association (NEMA). This standard defines ratings and classifications
for industrial electrical equipment. NEMA 250 defines the NEMA Rating
System used to determine how much protection equipment provides against
various external environmental conditions. These ratings help select
equipment based on the environmental conditions it will be used in and
increase the durability and resilience of equipment. NEMA 250 also
defines different classifications that determine the structural and
performance characteristics of equipment.
NEMA 2: For
indoor use to provide accidental personnel protection with enclosed
equipment. Provide protection against falling dirt, dripping or light
splashing water. (termocouple standards)
NEMA 4:
For indoor or outdoor use to provide protection against falling dirt,
rain, sleet, snow, windblown dust, splashing water, and hose-directed
water. The formation of ice on the head will not cause damage.
NEMA 4X:
For indoor or outdoor use to provide protection against falling dirt,
rain, sleet, snow, windblown dust, splashing water, hose-directed water,
and corrosion. The formation of ice on the head will not cause damage.
