The Shihlin SS2 series is designed for general industrial motor control applications that require reliable speed regulation, high starting torque and flexible parameter settings. Shihlin inverters have been available on our website since 2013.

Open-loop vector control: Shihlin SS2 can provide strong low-speed torque performance without requiring an encoder. This makes the drive suitable for many applications where accurate motor control is required without the additional cost and wiring of encoder feedback.

Automatic motor tuning: The SS2 supports Auto Tuning to identify important motor characteristics and optimize the drive parameters. Static tuning can be useful where the motor should not rotate during commissioning.

High short-term overload capacity: The SS2 can provide up to 200% short-time overload capability for demanding starting conditions and sudden load changes. This helps reduce unnecessary trips in machinery with intermittent high torque requirements.

Integrated braking transistor: On applicable SS2 models, the built-in braking transistor allows an external braking resistor to be connected for faster and more controlled deceleration. This is particularly useful in applications with regenerative energy during stopping.

Momentary power-loss operation: In some applications, maintaining controlled motor behavior during a short power interruption is as important as starting the motor. The SS2 can use the motor's regenerative energy to support controlled deceleration or short-duration operation, depending on the application and parameter settings.

This function can be useful in textile, plastics, steel processing and similar machinery where an uncontrolled stop may cause production loss or damage to material.

Flying start and automatic restart: In applications such as pumps and ventilation fans, the SS2 can be configured to detect a rotating motor and restart it more smoothly after power is restored.

Industrial Design and Service Life

The SS2 is designed for long-term industrial operation. Heat-resistant capacitors, durable cooling fans and protective circuit-board coatings help protect the inverter against temperature, contamination and demanding operating environments.

The cooling arrangement is designed to reduce direct contamination of sensitive electronic components while maintaining effective heat dissipation. Proper cabinet ventilation and regular maintenance remain important for reliable long-term operation.
