NPN sensors are especially preferred because they are more adaptable to field conditions. Compared to PNP sensors, they are less affected by interference issues in devices such as PLCs, smart relays, and counters. Consider the connection diagram and sensing distance when selecting a sensor.

Sensors can have different head types. Flat-headed sensors are sensitive only to metal objects in front and provide the clearest detection. Protruding head sensors are sensitive to objects in front as well as metal objects in the neck area; the structure of the mounting area application is also influential.
