Gemo Temperature Controllers

Gemo temperature controllers are available for simple ON-OFF heating applications as well as more demanding PID temperature control systems. Different models are available with different panel sizes, sensor inputs, supply voltages and output types.

The range includes fixed J type thermocouple models as well as multi-input controllers supporting J, K, T, S and R type thermocouples and Pt100.

Control Functions

Depending on the model, Gemo controllers can operate in ON-OFF, P, PI, PD or PID control modes.

Selected models include built-in Auto-tune for automatic PID parameter calculation. For more information about the control method, see PID control.

Depending on the controller model, available functions may include:

• Adjustable hysteresis
• Anti-windup in PID mode
• Automatic overshoot reduction
• Upper and lower SET limits
• Relative, absolute or band alarm functions
• Input offset adjustment
• Password-protected parameter settings
• Parameter storage when power is switched off

Heating and Cooling

Some Gemo controllers are intended for heating only, while other models also provide selectable heating / cooling control.

Cooling delay and similar output settings are available on selected models and should not be assumed to be standard across the complete range.

Sensor Inputs

Multi-input models allow the sensor type to be selected from the controller menu. Thermocouple inputs use cold-junction compensation, while Pt100 models can use 3-wire line compensation.

Display configuration also varies by model. Some controllers show process and SET values simultaneously, while simpler models use a single display or an analog SET potentiometer.

Sensor failure protection is included in the range, but output behaviour during a sensor fault depends on the model. Some controllers switch the output OFF, while selected PID models allow the fault output level to be set by parameter.

Relay and SSR Outputs

Gemo temperature controllers are available with relay outputs and, on selected models, SSR control outputs. Alarm relay configuration also varies between models.

Always check the required control output, alarm contact and supply voltage before ordering.

Supply Voltage

The common supply range for Gemo temperature controllers is 100..240VAC, 50-60Hz. Some models are also available with a 24VDC/AC supply, while others are available only for mains supply.

If you require 24V supply, SSR output or a particular sensor input, check the exact model specification before placing the order.

Choosing a Gemo Temperature Controller

The main points to check are panel size, sensor type, supply voltage, control output and control method.

For basic temperature regulation, an ON-OFF controller may be sufficient. PID models are more suitable where closer process temperature control is required. Fixed J type models are also available for applications where only a J type thermocouple is used.
