ACS 400 Fault Codes 2
Hi everyone
ABB ACS 140 Alarm and Fault Displays (Page 2)
The ACS100-PAN's seven-segment display unit uses "ALxx" or "FLxx" codes to show alarms and faults, where xx represents the relevant alarm or fault code. The alphanumeric display of the ACS-PAN control panel shows alarm and fault codes along with a brief message.
Alarms between 1-7 originate from button operations. For codes 10 or higher, the green LED flashes. Faults are indicated by a red LED.
Alarm and fault messages disappear when the MENU, ENTER, or arrow buttons on the control panel are pressed. If the keyboard is not touched and the alarm or fault is still active, the message reappears after a few seconds.
The last three fault codes are recorded in parameters 0128 - 0130. These fault memories can be cleared from the control panel by pressing the UP and DOWN buttons simultaneously while in parameter set mode.
Fault Reset
Faults indicated by a flashing red LED are reset by turning off the power for a while. Other faults (indicated by a steady red LED) can be reset either from the control panel, through a digital input or serial communication, or by turning off the supply voltage for a while. Once the fault is cleared, the motor can be started.
The ACS 400 can be configured to automatically reset certain faults. For automatic reset, refer to parameter group 31.
Fault Codes and Descriptions
Fault Code 12: Motor Stall
Motor stall. This may be due to overload or insufficient motor power. See parameters 3009 – 3012.
Fault Code 13: Serial Communication Loss
Loss of serial communication via the Standard Modbus Channel.
Check the connections between the external control system and ACS 400.
See parameters 5003 COMM FAULT TIME and 5004 COMM FAULT FUNC.
Fault Code 14: External Fault Signal
External fault active. See parameter 3003 EXTERNAL FAULT.
Fault Code 15: Output Earth Fault
Earth fault in the load. There may be an imbalance in the incoming mains system.
There may be a fault in the motor or motor cable.
The motor cable may be too long.
Fault Code 16: DC Bus Ripple
Ripple voltages on the DC bus are too large.
There may be a missing phase in the mains.
A fuse may have blown.
Fault Code 17: Underload
The motor load is too low. Check for any problems in the driven equipment.
See parameters 3013 – 3015.
Fault Code 18: Reserved
Fault Code 19: DDCS Connection Error
Problem in the DDCS connection.
Check the DDCS option module and optical fibers.
Check the status of the field network adapter. Refer to the relevant field network adapter guide.
Check the connections between the external control system and the field network adapter.
Alternatively, check the status of the IO expansion modules (NDIO) required by the PFC block.
Also, see the "DDCS Option Module Guide" and parameters 5004 – 5007.
Fault Code 20: AI Out of Range
Analog input out of range. Check the AI level.
Fault Code 21 - 26: Hardware Fault
Hardware fault. Contact the supplier.
Flashing full screen (ACS100-PAN) and the phrase "COMM LOSS" (ACS-PAN) indicate a serial connection error between the control panel and ACS 400. Connection problems should be checked.
Fault Code 28: PID Sleep Mode
PID sleep function is active. The drive can accelerate when the PID sleep function is deactivated. See parameters 4018 SLEEP SELECTION, 4013 PID SLEEP DELAY, 4014 PID SLEEP LEVEL, and 4015 WAKE-UP LEVEL for sleep selection.
Fault Code 29: Automatic Changeover
The automatic changeover function of the Pump-Fan Control block is active. See parameter group 81 for PFC CONTROL and the annex for more information.
Fault Code 30: Locking
Pump-Fan Control lockings are active. ACS 400 cannot start any motor (when Automatic Changeover is used) or ACS 400 cannot start the speed-regulated motor (when Automatic Changeover is not used).
These additional fault codes and descriptions demonstrate how the ACS 400 drive responds to specific situations and functions, guiding users on how to manage these scenarios. Each code helps identify the operational status of the drive and directs to appropriate parameter settings or actions.
