Basic Operation: Operation Panel and Screen Display
This section introduces the functions of the operation keys on the operation panel and screen display. The operation panel allows you to set parameters and monitor the status. This guide explains how to operate the operation panel and switch between four types of display modes.
LCD Screen and Operation Keys
LCD Screen:
The LCD screen displays four different modes: [Standard Mode], [Setting Mode], [Monitor Mode], and [Easy Mode], depending on your needs. If an error occurs, the screen will display alarms, trips, and other alerts. Normally, the backlight is white, but it turns red during a trip. You can adjust the contrast and set other screen settings, such as the automatic off timer.
[F1] - [F4] Keys:
These keys execute the functions displayed on the screen. Detailed descriptions of these keys are provided in later sections.
[ESC] Key:
This key allows you to switch between display modes and return to the previous item in the screen hierarchy.
[HAND/AUTO] Key:
This key toggles between hand (operation panel) and remote (remote control) operation. It is used for temporary local control via the operation panel while normally operating through remote control. To enable this key, set the parameter <F750: EASY Key Function>.
[RUN] Key:
This key starts the inverter from the operation panel. To enable this key, set the parameter <CMOd: Run Command Select> to "1".
[FWD/REV] Key:
This key switches between forward and reverse motor operation during panel run. It is enabled when the parameters <CMOd: Run Command Select> is set to "1" and <Fr: Panel Fwd/Rev Run Select> is set to "2" or "3".
[i] Key:
This key displays information. For example, you can easily access the website by scanning the QR code displayed. It also provides necessary information during a trip and shows QR codes for parameter information when a parameter is selected or edited.
[STOP/RESET] Key:
This key stops the inverter from the operation panel. To enable the stop command by this key, set the parameter <CMOd: Run Command Select> to "1". It can also be used for emergency stops when the inverter is not operated by the operation panel. During a trip, pressing this key twice will reset the inverter.
Touch Wheel:
Slide your finger in a circular motion to navigate menu items and values on the screen. Turning clockwise moves to the next item or increases the value, while turning counterclockwise moves to the previous item or decreases the value. Lightly touching the top or bottom of the circle allows you to move one item at a time in that direction.
Display Modes
This inverter has four types of display modes, which can be switched in the following ways:
Pressing the [ESC] key
Pressing any of the [F1] - [F4] keys assigned to a specific display mode
Standard Mode:
This is the default mode displayed at power on. It shows the operational status (such as the output frequency of the inverter), alarms, and trips when they occur. The output frequency is displayed by default, but you can change the display contents using <F710: Standard Mode Display>. In this mode, you can also set panel operation frequency, EASY key functions, language selection, and screen settings.
Setting Mode:
This mode is used for setting parameters. All parameters are displayed, and an Easy Mode is available where only registered parameters are shown.
Easy Mode:
In this mode, only the registered parameters are displayed and can be adjusted.
Screen Display in Standard Mode:
The common display contents for [Standard Mode], [Setting Mode], [Easy Mode], and [Monitor Mode] are as follows:
Operational status is indicated by symbols: (Rotating) for operation (clockwise for forward run, counterclockwise for reverse run), (Stop), (Blinking) for waiting emergency stop
Operational status is indicated by text: "RUN" for running, "STOP" for stopped, "Trip" for a trip occurrence, "JOG" for jog run
The frequency command value (default in Hz) is displayed: The display contents can be set using <F723: Status Area Display of Operation Panel>.
This user guide aims to provide clear and user-friendly instructions for operating the Toshiba VF-AS3 VFD. For more detailed information on screen modes, key functions, and other important details, please refer to the respective sections.
