Toshiba G9 VFD

Toshiba G9 True Torque Control2 Adjustable Speed Drive (ASD)!

The Toshiba G9 ASD is a state-of-the-art solid-state AC drive that features advanced True Torque Control2 technology. With Toshiba's Vector Control Algorithm, the drive enables motors to develop high starting torque and compensates for motor slip, resulting in smooth and quick starts as well as highly efficient operation. The G9 ASD utilizes digitally-controlled pulse width modulation for precise motor control. Its programmable functions are easily accessible through a user-friendly menu or via Direct Access Numbers, offering unparalleled motor control and reliability when combined with Toshiba's high-performance software.

The G9 ASD is designed to be powerful yet simple to operate. Its Electronic Operator Interface (EOI) features an easy-to-read LCD screen, complemented by a read-only LED screen that offers enhanced visibility from a greater distance. The EOI provides convenient access to the drive's extensive monitoring and programming capabilities.

The motor control software is menu-driven, allowing for straightforward access to motor control parameters and quick adjustments as needed. To fully leverage the capabilities of your new G9 ASD, familiarization with this guide is essential. This guide is intended for installers, users, and maintenance personnel of the ASD and can also serve as a reference or training tool. It is recommended to develop a thorough understanding of the system before attempting installation or operation.

For a detailed exploration of the G9 ASD's features, refer to the G9 ASD Installation and Operation Manual included on the CD that comes with the device.

Startup Wizard Parameter Requirements:

The Startup Wizard guides users through setting up the ASD's I/O signal parameters, control settings, and EOI display options. Users can also manually access each startup setting via the Program menu or associated Direct Access Numbers.

Upon initial power-up, the Startup Wizard automatically activates. It can also be run from the Program menu after startup if necessary. Users are prompted to either run the wizard immediately, schedule it for the next power-up, or manually configure the ASD.

Key parameters include:

Voltage and Frequency Rating of the Motor: Users should select the motor's rated voltage and frequency, typically found on its nameplate.
Upper and Lower-Limit Frequency: These parameters define the highest and lowest frequencies the G9 will accept as command inputs.
Automatic Acceleration/Deceleration: The G9 can adjust acceleration and deceleration rates based on the applied load, with options for manual settings or automatic adjustment for acceleration only.
Acceleration and Deceleration Time: These parameters specify the time it takes for the ASD output to ramp up or down between 0.0 Hz and the Maximum Frequency.
Volts per Hertz Setting: This function establishes the relationship between output frequency and voltage, with various control options including Constant Torque, Voltage Decrease Curve, Automatic Torque Boost, and Vector Control modes.
Motor Current Rating: Users input the motor's full-load amperage (FLA) for thermal overload protection.
Motor RPM: The rated speed of the motor is input here.
Command Source: This selection determines the source of Run commands, such as the Terminal Block, EOI Keypad, RS485, or a Communication Option Board.
Frequency Reference Source: Users establish the source of the Frequency command, with options including VI/II (V/I), RR, RX, or the EOI Keypad.

By understanding and utilizing these features, users can optimize the performance of the Toshiba G9 ASD for a wide range of applications.
