Shihlin SS2 User manuals

Hi everyone,

Shihlin SS2 is a type of variable frequency drive (VFD) produced by Shihlin Electric & Engineering Corporation, a Taiwanese company that specializes in the production of electrical equipment. The SS2 series of VFDs is designed to provide precise control of the speed and torque of electric motors, and is suitable for a range of industrial applications.

The Shihlin SS2 VFD uses advanced control technical, such as general flux vector control and space vector pulse width modulation (SVPWM), to provide accurate and efficient control of the motor. It also includes features such as motor parameter auto-tuning, stalling protection, and energy-saving control, which help to optimize the performance of the system.

The SS2 series of VFDs has a compact design and is easy to install, with a DIN rail design that allows multiple inverters to be mounted side-by-side in a panel, and a built-in standard RJ45 port for RS485 communication. The VFD also has various protections, such as input power phase failure protection, ground short circuit protection, and output short circuit protection, to ensure safe and reliable operation.

Overall, the Shihlin SS2 VFD is a high-performance and reliable device that can help to improve the efficiency and productivity of industrial systems.

General flux vector control technique: This control technique is a more advanced method of controlling the speed and torque of an electric motor compared to other techniques such as V/F control. It uses sophisticated algorithms to determine the optimal amount of current to be applied to the motor, based on measurements of the motor's current, voltage, and magnetic field. This results in more precise control of the motor, with greater efficiency and lower noise.

32-bit RISC CPU: A CPU (central processing unit) is the "brain" of the VFD, responsible for performing calculations and executing commands. The use of a 32-bit RISC (reduced instruction set computing) CPU in this VFD model allows for faster and more efficient processing of commands, leading to better control and response times.

Starting torque of 150% at 3Hz: The starting torque is the amount of torque that the motor can produce when it first starts up. A higher starting torque allows the motor to start more quickly and with more power, which can be important for certain applications. The starting torque of 150% at 3Hz means that the motor can produce 1.5 times its rated torque when starting up at a frequency of 3Hz.

Motor parameter auto-tuning function: This function automatically detects the characteristics of the motor being used, such as its resistance, inductance, and back-EMF, and adjusts the VFD's control parameters accordingly. This makes it easier to set up the VFD for different motors, and ensures optimal performance and efficiency.

Maximum output frequency of 650Hz: The output frequency of the VFD is the frequency of the electrical current being supplied to the motor, and determines the speed at which the motor rotates. The maximum output frequency of 650Hz means that the motor can rotate at a speed of up to 650 revolutions per second, providing a wide range of speed control.

Soft-PWM functions: PWM (pulse width modulation) is a technique used to control the voltage supplied to the motor by rapidly switching it on and off. Soft-PWM functions help to reduce the noise generated by the switching, and also help to prevent the VFD module from overheating.

Built-in energy-saving control function: This function adjusts the output voltage of the VFD based on the current load and speed of the motor, in order to reduce the power losses and increase the efficiency of the system. This can help to save energy and reduce operating costs.

Triangular wave function: This is a type of waveform that is used for applications that require traversing and winding movements, such as in the textile industry. The VFD can generate a triangular waveform that is synchronized with the motor's rotation, allowing for precise control of the movements.

Equipped with hardware protection design: The VFD is designed with various protections to prevent damage to the system in the event of a fault or malfunction. These include input power phase failure protection, ground short circuit protection, and output short circuit protection, as well as protection against damaged motor insulation or erroneous wiring.

Easy to install design: The VFD is designed to be easy to install and use, with a DIN rail design that allows multiple inverters to be mounted side-by-side in a panel, a built-in standard RJ45 port for RS485 communication, and screwless terminal blocks. It also has a removable cooling fan that is easy to clean.
