PowerFlex 70 VFD

The Allen-Bradley PowerFlex 70 AC drive is a compact, powerful, and reliable drive designed to meet the demands for space, simplicity, and reliability. It provides a wide range of features and is easy to configure for most application needs. It has flexible packaging and mounting options such as IP20, NEMA/UL Type 1, IP 66, NEMA/UL Type 4X/12, and Flange Type. The PowerFlex 70 Packaged Drives Program makes installation and start-up easy by offering pre-engineered and custom-engineered packages. Additionally, the drive is integrated with RSLogix 5000 software, which simplifies parameter and tag programming while still allowing for stand-alone drive software tool use on the factory floor.


The Allen-Bradley PowerFlex 70 AC drive is designed to be space-saving and flexible in terms of packaging and mounting options. It offers several hardware features that save space, such as Zero Stacking, integral EMC filtering, and an integral dynamic brake transistor. Additionally, it has communications options such as DeviceNet, ControlNet, Universal Remote I/O, Profibus, and Interbus-S, which allow for easy integration with other systems and easy monitoring of drive communications.

The Allen-Bradley PowerFlex 70 AC drive is a compact and powerful package that offers a range of features for space, simplicity, and reliability. The PowerFlex 70 also has a packaged drives program that simplifies installation and start-up by allowing users to order pre-packaged assemblies with operator interface, control, communications, and power options.

The drive also has premier integration with RSLogix5000 software for simplified start-up and reduced development time. The drive also features space-saving hardware features such as Zero Stacking, integral EMC filtering, integral dynamic brake transistor and internal dynamic brake resistor. It also offers various communication options such as DeviceNet, ControlNet, and EtherNet/IP networks.

The PowerFlex 70 also includes an LCD human interface module with a variety of languages, wireless interface module, and DriveTools SP software suite for programming, configuring and troubleshooting. Additionally, the drive offers vector control with FORCE technology, sensorless vector control, fast-acting current limit and bus voltage regulation for maximum acceleration and deceleration without tripping.


The PowerFlex family of drives from Allen-Bradley includes a variety of hardware and software features that are designed to save space and improve performance. Some of these features include Zero Stacking, which allows package styles to be mounted directly next to one another without reducing ambient temperature ratings, and integral EMC filtering, which provides a compact, all-in-one solution for meeting EMC requirements. Other features include an integral dynamic brake transistor for switching regenerative energy, and an internal dynamic brake resistor for providing braking torque.

In terms of communications, the PowerFlex drives utilize Rockwell Automation's NetLinx Open Network Architecture, which provides a common set of features and services for various networks, including DeviceNet, ControlNet, and EtherNet/IP. Additionally, the drives offer internal communication options such as DeviceNet, ControlNet, Universal Remote I/O, and other open communications such as Profibus and Interbus-S.

The PowerFlex LCD Human Interface Modules provide a large and easy to read 7-line backlit display with a variety of languages, alternate function keys for shortcuts to common tasks, and a calculator-like number pad for fast and easy data entry. The Wireless Interface Module (WIM) allows for wireless communication between the drive and a Pocket PC, laptop computer, or desktop computer equipped with Bluetooth wireless technology.

The DriveTools SP Software Suite is a powerful PC-based software for programming, configuring, and troubleshooting, including DriveExecutive for online/offline configuration and management of drives and peripherals and DriveObserver for real-time trending of drive information. Additionally, DriveExplorer software is an easy-to-use, cost-effective online programming tool for monitoring and configuring PowerFlex drive parameters.

In terms of control and performance features, the PowerFlex drives include vector control with FORCE Technology, sensorless vector control, fast-acting current limit and bus voltage regulation, Flying Start, PI Control, Inertia Ride-Through, User Sets, Slip Compensation, Safe Off Option, Droop Control, Sleep/Wake Control, and Fiber Specific Features. Some of these features are only available for Enhanced Control.
