INVT EtherCAT Servo Systems
INVT EtherCAT servo systems are designed for industrial machines requiring high-speed communication, precise positioning and synchronized multi-axis motion. EtherCAT versions of the DA200 servo drive can be integrated with compatible PLCs and motion controllers for coordinated position, speed and torque control.
The real-time communication capability of EtherCAT makes these systems suitable for applications such as winding machines, packaging equipment, electronic manufacturing, flying-cut systems, gantry mechanisms and other machines where several servo axes must operate together with accurate timing.
EtherCAT systems with up to 64 axes
INVT application documentation describes DA200 EtherCAT systems supporting configurations with up to 64 axes. This makes the system suitable for complex machinery containing a large number of synchronized servo axes. The actual number of usable axes depends on the motion controller, PLC performance, EtherCAT cycle time and overall network configuration.
High-speed servo response
The DA200 series provides a speed response frequency of up to 2.0 kHz and supports high-resolution 23-bit encoder feedback. These features help reduce settling time and improve positioning performance in applications requiring frequent acceleration, deceleration and rapid position changes.
Synchronized multi-axis motion
Multiple servo drives can be controlled through the same EtherCAT network, allowing accurate synchronization between axes. This architecture is useful for master-slave motion, electronic gearing, synchronized conveyors, winding, feeding, cutting and gantry applications.
Electronic cam control
Supported DA200 versions include an electronic cam (E-CAM) function that allows a slave servo axis to follow a programmed motion profile according to the position of a master axis. Electronic cam control can replace some mechanical cam arrangements and is particularly useful in repetitive synchronized motion applications.
DA200 EtherCAT for winding applications
INVT uses DA200 EtherCAT servo systems in winding and similar precision motion applications. Electronic cam functions and servo control algorithms can be used to coordinate variable-speed and constant-speed winding processes while maintaining synchronization between the individual machine axes.
Different winding profiles and product configurations can be managed through the machine control system, reducing mechanical adjustment requirements and making product changeovers easier in automated production equipment.
Gantry and dual-axis synchronization
EtherCAT communication is also useful in gantry and portal mechanisms where two servo motors drive the same mechanical axis. Coordinated control helps maintain alignment between both sides of the machine and reduces positioning errors and mechanical stress caused by axis mismatch.
Vibration and resonance control
DA200 servo drives include functions such as low-frequency vibration suppression, automatic and manual notch filters, load inertia identification and friction torque compensation. These functions help reduce the effects of mechanical resonance and vibration when the servo system is correctly tuned.
Real-time position control
EtherCAT communication allows position commands and operating data to be exchanged rapidly between the controller and servo drives. This makes it possible to update motion commands during operation and coordinate several axes from a central motion control system.
Communication options
The DA200 servo family is available with different communication and control options depending on the model. These include standard pulse control, CANopen, EtherCAT, PROFINET and other industrial communication interfaces. The correct version should be selected according to the machine controller and network architecture.
Wide servo power range
The DA200 servo drive family covers approximately 100 W to 55 kW, with drive and motor options for different supply voltage classes including 220 VAC and 400 VAC systems. Encoder type, motor compatibility and available communication functions depend on the selected servo drive and motor combination.
Typical applications
INVT DA200 EtherCAT servo systems can be used in packaging machines, winding machines, flying-cut systems, electronic manufacturing equipment, gantry mechanisms, robotic systems, synchronized conveyors and multi-axis positioning machines.
Servo motor and drive selection should be based on the required torque, speed, load inertia, positioning accuracy, number of axes, machine cycle time and communication architecture.
