Gearboxes for 2 kW (2000 W) servo motors reduce axis speed and increase output torque. Power alone does not establish suitability: a 2 kW motor rated at 3000 rpm produces approximately 6.37 Nm, while one rated at 2000 rpm produces approximately 9.55 Nm.

Evaluate gear ratio, continuous and peak output torque, permissible input speed, duty cycle and radial/axial load limits together. Include acceleration, braking and load inertia in the sizing calculation.

Confirm motor shaft diameter and length, pilot diameter, flange dimensions and bolt pattern against manufacturer drawings. Compare angular backlash (arcmin) and torsional stiffness with the required positioning performance. Low backlash does not mean absolute zero backlash.
