IC693PTM100

IC693PTM100 Power Transducer (PTM)

Overview: The IC693PTM100 Power Transducer (PTM) is used to measure electrical power consumption or monitor voltages between an electrical generator and its power grid. It connects to user-supplied current and potential transformers that provide the input signals for the PTM to calculate data.

This module works with a Series 90-30 PLC, allowing the gathered data to be used for reporting, fault monitoring, generator control, or demand charge reduction/load shedding applications.

Components:

PTM Processing Module (PTMPM): A module mounted in a Series 90-30 PLC rack.
PTM Interface Module (PTMIM): A panel-mounted circuit board that interfaces between the PTMPM module and the input transformers.
Interface cable: Connects the PTMPM module to the PTMIM circuit board.

Difference Between IC693PTM100 and IC693PTM101: The only difference is the length of their interface cables. PTM100 comes with a 19" (0.5 meter) cable, while PTM101 comes with a 39" (1 meter) cable.

Capabilities: The PTM can perform any of the following tasks, depending on the selected %Q bit:

Measure power parameters for three individual single-phase circuits.
Measure power parameters for one 3-wire single-phase circuit (120/240 VAC).
Measure power parameters for one 3-phase circuit (Wye or Delta type selectable).
Compare power parameters between a 3-phase generator’s output and a power grid phase.
Compare power parameters between one generator phase and one power grid phase.

Operating Modes:

   • Power Monitor Mode: The PTM samples Single-Phase or 3-Phase AC voltages and currents to calculate various power values. Wye or Delta configuration can be selected for 3-Phase operations.
   • Synchro Monitor Mode: The PTM samples a generator's voltage and the power grid’s voltage, developing data on voltage, frequency, and relative phase.

Automatic Data Transfers: The PTM Processor Module (PTMPM) is controlled by the PLC CPU, sending several %Q bits and %AQ words each PLC sweep, representing commands such as Enable/Disable, Power/Synchro Mode, and Display Mode. In return, the PTMPM sends voltage, current, power, and phase data to the PLC CPU, along with discrete fault statuses.

Compatibility: The PTM is compatible with all Series 90-30 CPUs and can be mounted in any type of baseplate (CPU, Expansion, Remote).

Dimensions:

PTMPM Module: Standard-sized Series 90-30 module, mounts in a Series 90-30 baseplate.
PTMIM Module: 114 mm long and 76 mm wide, mounted on a 35 mm DIN rail.

Indicator LEDs:

F (Fault): Red LED, ON indicates a fault (e.g., missing Phase A input, over-range condition, phase polarity fault).
R (Running): Green LED, ON indicates the module is functioning properly.
