IC693MDR390

The IC693MDR390 24 Volt DC Input/Relay Output Module

This module provides 8 inputs and 8 normally-open (N.O.) relay outputs. The inputs operate at 24V DC and are organized into one group. The input circuits can either sink or source current, meaning they can either pull or push current to or from the input devices, depending on the wiring. The relay outputs are arranged in two groups of four circuits with each group having a common power terminal.

The input circuits are compatible with a wide range of devices like pushbuttons, limit switches, and proximity sensors. When current flows through an input, it registers as a logic 1 in the input status table (%I). The power needed to operate the field devices must be supplied by the user.

The relay outputs are used to control devices provided by the user. Each relay can handle up to 2 amps, making them suitable for controlling things like motor starters, solenoids, and indicators. The internal relay circuits are powered by the +24V DC bus on the backplane, but you’ll need to supply the AC or DC power to run the field devices. There are no fuses on this module.

LED Indicators:

At the top of the module, you’ll find LEDs that show the ON/OFF status of the inputs and outputs. The top row (A1 through A8) corresponds to the 8 input points, and the bottom row (B1 through B8) shows the status of the 8 relay outputs.

Installation:

The module’s left edge is color-coded: the top half is blue (indicating low-voltage circuits), and the bottom half is red (indicating high-voltage circuits). The IC693MDR390 can be installed in any I/O slot of a 5-slot or 10-slot baseplate in a Series 90-30 PLC system.

Key Specs:
Inputs:

   Rated Voltage: 24V DC
Operating Voltage Range: -30 to +32V DC
Inputs per Module: 8 (one group)
   On-State Voltage: 15-32V DC
   Off-State Voltage: 0-5V DC
   On-State Current: Minimum 4 mA
   Off-State Current: Maximum 1.5 mA
On/Off Response Time: 7 ms (typical)

Outputs:

Rated Voltage: 24V DC, 120/240V AC
Operating Voltage: 5-30V DC or 5-250V AC (50/60 Hz)
Outputs per Module: 8 (two groups of four)
Maximum Load: 2 amps per output, 4 amps per group
   Max Inrush Current: 5 amps
On/Off Response Time: 15 ms (maximum)

Power Consumption:

80 mA from the 5V bus on the backplane (with all inputs/outputs on)
70 mA from the 24V relay bus on the backplane (with all outputs on)

Output Life:

At 240V AC, 120V AC, or 24V DC, the typical relay contact life is:
200,000 operations at 2 amps (resistive load)
       400,000 operations at 1 amp
       800,000 operations at 0.5 amps

For inductive loads, you can extend the relay’s life by using suppression circuits.

In summary, the IC693MDR390 is a great choice for monitoring 24V DC inputs and controlling AC or DC loads with relay outputs. The LED indicators allow you to easily monitor the status of each input and output, making it a reliable module for controlling various field devices in your system.
