IC693MDL634: 24 Volt DC Positive/Negative Logic Input Module
The 24 Volt DC Positive/Negative Logic Input Module for the Series 90-30 PLC provides 8 input points in one group, with a common power input terminal. This module can operate with either positive or negative logic.
How Does It Work?
Positive logic: It sinks current from the input device to the common or the negative power bus.
Negative logic: It sources current through the input device to the common or the positive power bus.
When current flows into an input point, it results in a logic 1 in the input status table (%I). Power for the input devices can either come from an external power source provided by the user, or from the module’s own isolated +24 VDC supply (using the +24V OUT and 0V OUT terminals). This supply can handle a limited number of inputs.
LED Indicators:
The module features LED indicators that show the ON/OFF status of each input. The top row of eight green LEDs, labeled A1 to A8, corresponds to the eight input points of the module. Additionally, there is an insert inside the hinged door for wiring details, and a blue color-coded edge on the outside to indicate that this is a low-voltage module.
Installation:
This module can be installed in any I/O slot of a 5 or 10-slot baseplate in the Series 90-30 PLC system, making it flexible in terms of placement.
Key Technical Specifications:
Rated Voltage: 24V DC
Input Voltage Range: 0 to 30V DC
Number of Inputs: 8 (in one group with a single common terminal)
Isolation: 1500V between the field and logic sides
Input Current: 7 mA (typical) at the rated voltage
On-State Voltage: 11.5 to 30V DC
Off-State Voltage: 0 to 5V DC
On-State Current: Minimum 3.2 mA
Off-State Current: Maximum 1.1 mA
On/Off Response Time: 7 ms (typical)
Power Consumption:
45 mA from the 5V bus (when all inputs are ON)
62 mA from the isolated 24V bus or user-supplied power
Wiring and Connections:
The module provides clear wiring information to connect user-supplied input devices and power sources to the 24V DC Positive/Negative Logic Input Module. The wiring diagram includes solid and dashed lines to indicate positive and negative logic connections.
Temperature and Input Points:
As ambient temperature increases, the number of inputs that can be ON simultaneously decreases. For instance, at 50°C, a maximum of 4 inputs can remain ON.
This module is compatible with a variety of user-supplied devices, including pushbuttons, limit switches, and proximity switches, making it a versatile choice for 24V DC systems.
