IC693DSM314
GE Fanuc 90-30 PLC IC693DSM314 - Motion Mate Digital Servo Module (DSM314)
Overview: The IC693DSM314 Motion Mate is a high-performance motion control module, fully integrated with the logic solving and communication functions of the Series 90-30 PLC. In digital mode, this module controls GE Fanuc digital servos. In analog mode, it controls servos with an analog command input, such as GE Fanuc SL Series Servos or third-party analog servos.
Key Features:
Digital Signal Processor (DSP): Provides precise control over GE Fanuc servos.
Fast Block Processing: Processes motion control blocks in less than 5 milliseconds.
Advanced Tracking: Velocity Feed Forward and Position Error Integrator improve tracking accuracy.
High-Resolution Programming Units:
Position: –536,870,912 to +536,870,911 User Units.
Velocity: 1 to 8,388,607 User Units/sec.
Acceleration: 1 to 1,073,741,823 User Units/sec².
Motion Programming: Supports 1- to 4-axis simple motion programs. Multi-axis programs using Axes 1 and 2 can utilize synchronized block start.
Non-volatile Memory: Stores 10 programs and 40 subroutines created with VersaPro software (Version 1.1 or later).
Compatibility: Works with Series 90-30 CPUs that have firmware version 10.0 or later (not compatible with CPUs 311-341 and 351).
Centralized Programming and Configuration: All tasks, including motion program creation and local logic programming, are managed through the PLC’s programming port. The CPU transfers the configuration, motion programs, and logic programs to the DSM314 over the PLC backplane.
User Unit Scaling: Supports user-defined programming units (User Units) in both Standard and Follower modes.
Firmware Updates: The DSM314 firmware, stored in Flash memory, can be updated via the COMM port on the front panel. Firmware kits are available for download on the GE Fanuc website.
Recipe Programming: Uses command parameters as operands for acceleration, velocity, move, and dwell commands.
Automatic Data Transfer: Automates data exchange between the PLC tables and DSM314, with no need for additional programming.
Electronic CAM Feature: Available starting from Firmware Version 2.0.
Servo Control: Controls GE Fanuc α Series and β Series Digital Servos, SL-Series servos, or third-party servos with analog velocity or torque command interfaces.
Home and Overtravel Switch Inputs: Each servo axis has dedicated home and overtravel switch inputs.
Position Capture: Each axis has two Position Capture Strobe Inputs, which can capture the axis and/or master position with an accuracy of +/-2 counts plus 10 microseconds.
I/O Support: Includes 5V, 24V, and analog I/O for PLC usage.
Encoder Input: Incremental quadrature encoder input for each axis in Encoder/Analog mode.
Follower Master Axis Support: Includes quadrature encoder input for the follower master axis.
13-Bit Analog Output: Can be used by the PLC for control or as a digital servo tuning monitor.
High-Speed Digital Output: Four 24V and four 5V digital outputs are available via local logic control.
Conclusion: The IC693DSM314 Motion Mate Digital Servo Module offers a flexible and high-performance solution for motion control applications. Its ability to control both digital and analog servos makes it ideal for a wide range of industrial automation projects, providing precise control and advanced programming features.
