PLC and HMI Programming Cables
A reliable programming connection starts with the correct cable for the exact controller or panel. This section brings together computer connection cables for PLC and HMI equipment, organised by manufacturer and model. Whether the task is PLC programming, transferring an HMI project or accessing a supported device for backup and monitoring, check both the hardware and the engineering software before choosing.
Find the Cable for Your Device
Browse the cable groups for Siemens, Delta, Mitsubishi, Omron, Fatek, LS/LG, INVT and Allen-Bradley. These groups help narrow the search, but different product families within one brand can use different adapters, pinouts and software settings. The manufacturer’s name alone is not a compatibility specification.
Match the full CPU or HMI model number, the intended programming port and the cable’s product code. Check the electrical interface and pin assignment as well as the connector. If the device identification is unclear, send our technical team photographs of the model label and connection port to help assess the available options.
Identify the Connection at Both Ends
Depending on the equipment, the device connection may use RS232, RS422, RS485, Ethernet or a manufacturer-specific programming interface. Establish what the communication port supports before selecting a cable. A programming lead may contain active conversion electronics, so two leads with similar plugs are not necessarily interchangeable.
USB-to-serial adapters can be useful where the device and software support that connection method. They do not automatically provide every proprietary protocol or programming interface. For industrial communication equipment, compatibility depends on the electrical connection and the software’s supported access method working together.
Check Drivers, Software and Backup Access
For USB products, review operating system compatibility, the required driver and the engineering software version. Some adapters expose a virtual COM port; others use a dedicated manufacturer interface. Successful driver installation is only one part of establishing a working programming connection. Consult the individual product page for any available driver files, setup instructions and connection documentation.
Sending a program to a device, reading it back and recovering an editable project are distinct tasks. What you can retrieve depends on the device, its software and the permitted access. A connection cable does not bypass project protection or guarantee that an editable source project can be recovered from the equipment.
Warranty, returns and exchanges: Requests are assessed under the applicable sales terms and legislation, taking account of the type of transaction. Statutory rights remain unaffected. Review the supported models and connection requirements before ordering, and resolve any compatibility questions in advance.
