Gemo AR2-G1-230VAC-12D2A – I/O Expansion Module for AR2 PLC / Smart Relay

Important: The Gemo AR2-G1 cannot be used as a standalone controller. It is designed to operate with a compatible Gemo AR2-A or Gemo AR2-P CPU and is used to increase the available digital inputs, analog inputs and relay outputs of the AR2 control system.

Gemo AR2-G1-230VAC-12D2A standard I/O configuration

• Supply voltage: 220 VAC

• Digital inputs: 12 × 24 VDC inputs

• Analog inputs: 2 × 0-10 V analog inputs. These inputs can also be used with 4-20 mA signals when configured appropriately.

• Analog output: Not available.

• Relay outputs: 10 × 2 A relay outputs

• Real-time clock: Not included on the AR2-G1 expansion module.

• Temperature sensor input: 1 × PTC sensor input

What is the Gemo AR2-G1 used for?

The AR2-G1 is an I/O expansion module for Gemo AR2 automation systems. It is intended for applications where the number of inputs or outputs available on the main AR2 CPU is not sufficient.

The main control program remains inside the AR2-A or AR2-P CPU, while the AR2-G1 provides additional field inputs and relay outputs. It should therefore be considered part of an expandable AR2 PLC system rather than a second independent PLC.

• EMC and panel installation: The internal electrical isolation allows the module to operate in control panels containing equipment such as AC motor speed controllers / VFDs, frequency inverters and other possible sources of electrical interference. Correct grounding, shielding and panel wiring practices should still be followed.

• PID control: The AR2-G1 is an I/O expansion module and does not execute an independent PID control algorithm. Control functions are handled by the connected PLC / main CPU.

• Pulse output: The AR2-G1 does not provide an independent positioning pulse output for direct servo or stepper system control.

• HMI connection: Operator displays are connected through the main AR2 control system rather than used as a standalone function of the expansion module. See HMI options for Gemo PLC systems.

When the AR2-G1 is connected to a compatible AR2 CPU, the complete control system can make use of the programming and automation functions provided by the main controller.

• Ladder programming: 256 program lines, 5 contact columns and 1 output column

• Edge functions: Rising-edge and falling-edge detection

• Programming interface: RS-232 program transfer

• Counter comparators: 32 functions with offset capability

• Menu system: Three-level password-protected structure

• Expanded digital input capacity: Up to 28 digital inputs, depending on system configuration

• Expanded digital output capacity: Up to 20 digital outputs, depending on system configuration

• Timer functions: 32 timers with 11 operating modes and 9 selectable time ranges

• Weekly / annual scheduling: Available when a compatible AR2 CPU with real-time clock is used

Analog and counter specifications

• A/D resolution: 10 bit

• Analog input range: 0-10 VDC, maximum 16 VDC

• Analog ground: Separate analog ground for the analog input circuit

• Fast counter input OFF time: Minimum 1.25 ms

• Fast counter input ON time: Minimum 1.25 ms

• PTC input: 2-wire PTC sensor input, approximately -50°C to +150°C range

• Analog comparators: 16 hysteresis-enabled analog comparator functions

• Counters: 32 counters, 16-bit, selectable up/down counting

RS-485 wiring

For RS-485 communication, a twisted and shielded 2-core, 24 AWG cable is recommended. The communication line should be wired A ↔ A and B ↔ B.
