IC693APU305 I/O Processor Module - Series 90-30 PLC
Overview: The IC693APU305 I/O Processor (IOP) Module for the Series 90-30 PLC provides direct processing of rapid pulse signals for industrial control applications such as:
Fast response process control
Velocity measurement
Material handling, marking, and packaging
This module is capable of directly sensing inputs, processing input information, and controlling outputs without needing communication with the CPU. This direct processing ability makes it highly suitable for handling high-speed signals efficiently.
Module Features:
Inputs and Outputs: The module supports up to 12 positive logic (source) inputs and 8 positive logic outputs. The input voltage can be configured for either 5 VDC (TTL) or 10-30 VDC (non-TTL).
Output Protection: Outputs are protected by a replaceable fuse. One common fuse is used for all outputs.
I/O Update: A dedicated processor provides a fast I/O update rate of 500 µs.
Counters and Registers: The module includes a 32-bit total counts register, four strobe data registers for input capture, and two timer registers to measure input pulse length or spacing.
Diagnostics: Internal diagnostics monitor module health, and individual LEDs indicate the status of the module and its configuration.
User Configuration: All configuration parameters are set through software (no jumpers or DIP switches). Configuration can be modified from the user’s application program as needed.
LED Indicators: Six LEDs indicate operating status, configuration status, and the state of hardware outputs 1 to 4.
Field Wiring: A removable terminal board is provided for easy connection of field wiring.
Power and Connection: Power for the module’s logic circuitry is drawn from the 5 VDC bus on the baseplate backplane. Input and output device power must be supplied either by the user or the 24 VDC isolated output from the Series 90-30 power supply. The module provides a selectable threshold voltage to allow the inputs to respond to either a 5 VDC or 10-30 VDC signal level, based on configuration.
Configuration and Monitoring: All configuration parameters are downloaded from the PLC to the I/O Processor after it passes its internal diagnostics. Once successfully configured, the CONFIG OK LED will turn on. Configuration parameters can be modified using the programming/configuration software or the Hand-Held Programmer.
A watchdog timer monitors the module's operation. If a failure is detected, the watchdog forces all outputs off and turns off the MODULE OK LED.
