IC697CMM712
Serial Communications Module for State Logic CPU (IC697CMM712)
This module provides serial communication ports for the State Logic CPU and enables data exchange between the control system and serial devices in industrial automation systems. Here are the key features and functions of the module:
Single Slot Serial Communication: Used for State Logic CPU.
No Programming Required: Pre-configured and ready to use.
CCM2 Protocol: Operates only as a slave.
12 MHz 80C186 Microprocessor: Provides high processing power.
Dual Serial Ports: Compatible with RS-422/RS-485 or RS-232 communication protocols.
Reset Button: Allows for quick module reset.
Status LED: Indicates the operational status of the module.
Soft Configuration: Configured via IC641 MS-DOS programming software without physical DIP switches or jumpers.
Simultaneous Communication on Both Ports: Supports full-duplex data communication at speeds of up to 19.2 Kbaud on both ports.
Functions:
The Serial Communications Module (SCM) provides input/output ports for serial communication with the State Logic Control System. The system's control program uses the SCM to receive input from a serial device and transmit data to a serial device. Each module provides two ports that can be configured for either RS-232 or RS-422/RS-485 communication. The State Logic Control System supports up to four Serial Communications Modules, providing a total capacity of eight serial ports.
One of the eight ports can be configured for the CCM2 protocol, which allows read/write access for analog input/output values, internal flags (%M), and the current states of tasks, along with standard discrete inputs, outputs, and variable values. Additional features are available for custom CCM communication programs.
Serial Ports:
Port 1 (3PL) and Port 2 (4PL): Both ports support RS-232 and RS-422/RS-485 signals. Each port can operate simultaneously, providing full-duplex data communication at speeds of up to 19.2 Kbaud.
The pinout for RS-232 signals follows standard specifications, while unused pins are assigned to RS-422/RS-485 signals.
Installation:
Ensure the rack power is off before installation.
Connect the battery to one of the battery connectors on the module.
Install the module in slots 2 through 5 of rack 0.
Turn on the power. The top LED should blink during diagnostics and remain on if successful.
Memory:
The Serial Communications Module includes all necessary memory, so no additional expansion is required.
LED Indicators:
Module OK LED: This LED indicates the module's operational status. If the LED is on, the module is functioning correctly; if it's off, there may be a fault.
Reset Button:
Pressing the button for less than 5 seconds will reset the module.
Pressing the button for more than 5 seconds will restore the module to factory default configuration, which may require the reloading of the State Logic program.
Battery:
A lithium battery (IC697ACC701) is installed to maintain serial port configuration data when the power is off. Ensure to install the new battery before removing the old one to prevent data loss.
The Serial Communications Module offers reliable serial communication for the State Logic CPU and supports a wide range of industrial applications where serial data exchange is required.
