Energy systems

The Energy Systems category covers control and supporting equipment for monitoring, converting and managing electrical energy. For industrial facilities, building applications and renewable energy projects, selection depends on the supply configuration and connected load requirements.
Compare AC/DC voltage, phase configuration, continuous power and current ratings together. Loads such as motors and pumps also require a check of starting demand. For metering and monitoring devices, consider the quantities to be measured, measurement range, sensor or current transformer compatibility and communication protocol.
For renewable energy projects, establish whether grid-connected, off-grid or backup operation is required. Where storage is needed, assess power (kW), usable energy capacity (kWh) and the required operating duration separately. Mounting arrangements, ambient temperature and the enclosure protection rating must also suit the installation.
