Delta VFD-S Fault Codes
Hi everyone,
Maintenance and Inspections
Daily Inspection
Ensure motors are operating as expected.
Check for abnormal installation environment.
Verify cooling system is operating correctly.
Listen for irregular vibrations or sounds during operation.
Check if motors are overheating.
Measure input voltage with a voltmeter.
Periodic Inspection
Turn off AC input power and remove the cover before inspection.
Wait at least 10 minutes after display lamps go out to ensure capacitors are fully discharged.
Periodical Maintenance
Ambient Environment:
+ Inspect ambient temperature, humidity, vibration, and presence of dust, gas, oil, or water drops.
Voltage:
+ Check if the voltage of the main and control circuits is correct.
Keypad:
+ Ensure the display is clear and characters are not missing.
Mechanical Parts:
+ Inspect for abnormal sounds or vibrations.
+ Tighten loose screws.
+ Check for deformity or damage.
+ Inspect for color changes due to overheating.
+ Clean dust and dirt.
Main Circuit:
+ Inspect for loose or missing screws.
+ Check for deformity, cracks, damage, or color changes due to overheating or aging.
+ Clean dust and dirt.
Terminals and Wiring:
+ Inspect for color changes or deformation due to overheating.
+ Check for damage to insulation or wiring.
DC Capacity:
+ Check for leakage of liquid, color changes, cracks, or deformation.
+ Measure static capacity when required.
Resistor:
+ Inspect for peculiar smells or insulator cracks due to overheating.
+ Measure with a multimeter after removing wiring between +1/+2 and -.
Transformer and Reactor:
+ Inspect for abnormal vibrations or smells.
Magnetic Contactor and Relay:
+ Tighten loose screws.
+ Ensure contacts work correctly.
Printed Circuit Board and Connector:
+ Tighten loose screws and press connectors firmly in place.
+ Inspect for peculiar smells, color changes, cracks, damage, deformation, or corrosion.
+ Check for leakage or deformation in capacitors.
Cooling Fan:
+ Inspect for abnormal sounds or vibrations.
+ Tighten loose screws.
+ Replace the fan if there is color change due to overheating.
Ventilation Channel:
+ Ensure no obstructions in the heat sink, air intake, or air outlet.
Over Current (OC)
Description: Abnormal increase in current.
+ Solutions:
+ Check if motor power corresponds with the AC motor drive output power.
+ Check the wiring connections to U/T1, V/T2, W/T3 for possible short circuits.
+ Check the wiring connections between the AC motor drive and motor for possible short circuits or grounding.
+ Check for loose contacts between AC motor drive and motor.
+ Increase the Acceleration Time.
+ Check for possible excessive loading conditions at the motor.
+ If abnormalities persist, send the AC motor drive back to the manufacturer.
Over Voltage (OV - Ou)
Description: The DC bus voltage has exceeded its maximum allowable value.
+ Solutions:
+ Check if the input voltage falls within the rated AC motor drive input voltage range.
+ Check for possible voltage transients.
+ Increase Deceleration Time or add an optional brake resistor if over-voltage is caused by motor regeneration.
+ Ensure required brake power is within specified limits.
Overheating (OH)
Description: Heat sink temperature too high.
+ Solutions:
+ Ensure ambient temperature is within the specified range.
+ Ensure ventilation holes are not obstructed.
+ Remove any foreign objects from the heatsinks and check for dirty heat sink fins.
+ Check and clean the fan.
+ Provide adequate spacing for ventilation.
Low Voltage (LV - LU)
Description: The DC bus voltage has fallen below its minimum value.
+ Solutions:
+ Check if input voltage falls within the AC motor drive rated input voltage range.
+ Check for abnormal load in the motor.
+ Ensure correct wiring of input power to R-S-T (for 3-phase models) without phase loss.
Overload (OL)
Description: The AC motor drive detects excessive drive output current.
+ Solutions:
+ Check if the motor is overloaded.
+ Reduce torque compensation setting in Pr.7-02.
+ Use a higher power AC motor drive model.
