ACS 800 Fault codes 2
Hi everybody,
In ABB ACS 800 drives, a warning or error message indicates an abnormal condition of the drive. These warning or error messages displayed on the panel
can often be identified and corrected using the provided information.
However, if the problem cannot be resolved with this information, it is
recommended to contact an ABB representative.
If the drive is operated with the control panel removed, the red LED on the panel mounting platform indicates a fault condition. (Note: Some drive types are not equipped with LEDs as standard.)
The four-digit code number displayed on the panel is used for fieldbus communication (see the Fieldbus Control section).
How to Reset??
The drive can be reset by pressing the RESET button
on the keypad, through digital input or fieldbus, or by turning off the
supply voltage for a while. After the fault is corrected, the motor can
be restarted.
Fault History
When
a fault is detected, it is stored in the Fault History. The most recent
faults and warnings are stored with a timestamp of when the event was
detected. For more information, see the Control Panel section.
These
general details provide a starting point for dealing with the errors
and warnings that may be encountered in ABB ACS 800 drives. However, it
is important to consult the drive's user manual and technical documentation
to understand the reasons behind each error message and to find the
appropriate solution. For more complex problems or when the specified
steps do not solve the issue, contacting ABB's technical support is the
best approach
- OVERCURRENT (2310) - Output current excessive.
- Error Message: The output current is excessive. The overcurrent trip limit is, depending on the drive type, between 1.65 … 3.5 · Imax.
- Solution: Check the motor load. Check the acceleration time. Check the motor and motor cable (including phase imbalance). Ensure there are no power factor correction capacitors or surge suppressors in the motor cable. Check the encoder cable (including phase imbalance).
OVERFREQ (7123) - Motor is turning faster than the permissible maximum speed.
- Error Message: The motor is turning faster than the permissible maximum speed due to incorrect setting of the minimum/maximum speed, insufficient brake torque, or changes in the load while using a torque reference.
- Solution: Check the minimum/maximum speed settings. Check the adequacy of the motor brake torque. Check the applicability of torque control. Check the need for brake chopper and resistor(s).
PANEL LOSS (5300) - Communication with a control panel or DriveWindow® selected as the active control position for the drive has been interrupted.
- Error Message: Communication with the control panel or DriveWindow has been interrupted.
- Solution: Check the panel connection (refer to the relevant hardware manual). Check the control panel connector. Replace the control panel on the mounting platform. Check the Fault Function parameters. Check the DrivesWindow connection.
PPCC LINK (5210) - Fiber optic connection error to the INT card.
- Error Message: Fiber optic connection error.
- Solution: Check the fiber optic cables.
RUN DISABLE - Run enable signal not received.
- Error Message: The run enable signal is not being received.
- Solution: Check the setting of Parameter 16.01. Turn on the signal or check the wiring of the selected source.
SC (INU 1), SC (INU 2), SC (INU 3), SC (INU 4) - Short circuit in the inverter unit of several parallel inverter modules.
- Error Message: Short circuit according to the faulty inverter module number.
- Solution: Check the motor and motor cable. Check the power semiconductors (IGBT power plates) of the inverter module. (INU 1 means inverter module 1, etc.)
SHARE IO COMM LOSS - Analog input data sharing is enabled but data is not being received.
- Error Message: Analog input data sharing is active but data is not being received.
- Solution: Check the fiber optic cable connection between the drives. Check the analog input signal wiring.
SHORT CIRC (2340) - Short circuit in motor cable(s) or motor.
- Error Message: Short circuit in motor cable or motor.
- Solution: Check the motor and motor cable. Ensure there are no power factor correction capacitors or surge suppressors in the motor cable. If there is a fault in the output bridge of the converter unit, contact an ABB representative.
SLOT OVERLAP - Two option modules have the same connection interface selection.
- Error Message: Two option modules are using the same connection interface.
- Solution: Check the connection interface selections in the 98 OPTION MODULES group.
START INHIBIT (ff7a) - Optional start inhibit hardware logic is enabled.
- Error Message: Optional start inhibit hardware logic is active.
- Solution: Check the start inhibit circuit (GPS card).
START SEL WRONG - A pulse-type start/stop command is selected for external control position 2 (EXT2) while the Multipump or Level control macro is active.
- Error Message: A pulse-type start/stop command is selected for EXT2 while the Multipump or Level control macro is active.
- Solution: Select a non-pulse start/stop source in Parameter 10.02 EXT 2 STRT/STP/DI.
SUPPLY PHASE (3130) - Intermediate circuit DC voltage is fluctuating due to a missing supply phase, a blown fuse, or an internal fault in a rectifier bridge.
- Error Message: A trip occurs when the DC voltage fluctuation is up to 13% of the DC voltage.
- Solution: Check the main fuses. Check the main supply imbalance.
THERMISTOR (4311) - Excessive motor temperature (detected by the motor thermal protection function, THERMISTOR selection active).
- Error Message: The motor thermal protection function has detected excessive motor temperature.
- Solution: Check the motor ratings and load. Check the startup data. Check the thermistor connections. Check the thermistor wiring.
UNDERLOAD (ff6a) - Motor load is too low, for example, due to a release mechanism in the driven equipment.
- Error Message: Motor load is too low due to a problem in the driven equipment.
- Solution: Check if there is a problem in the driven equipment. Check the Fault Function parameters.
USER MACRO - User Macro is not recorded or the file is defective.
- Error Message: No recorded User Macro or the file is faulty.
- Solution: Create a User Macro.
THERMAL MODE - Motor thermal protection mode is set as DTC for a high-powered motor.
- Error Message: Motor thermal protection mode is set as DTC for a high-powered motor.
- Solution: Refer to Parameter 30.05.
