ACS 600 Fault Codes

TEMP: Excessive Internal Temperature

- The trigger level for inverter module temperature is 125°C.
- Check environmental conditions.
- Check air flow and fan operation.
- Check for dust accumulation on heat sink fins.
- Compare motor power with unit power.

OVERCURRENT

- Output current is excessive. The software overcurrent trigger limit is 3.5 · I2hd.
- Check motor load.
- Check acceleration time.
- Check motor and motor cable (including phase imbalance).
- Ensure there are no power factor correction capacitors or surge suppressors in the motor cable.
- Check encoder cable (including phase imbalance).

SHORT CIRCUIT

- There is a short circuit in motor cables or motor.
- Check motor and motor cable.
- Ensure there are no power factor correction capacitors or surge suppressors in the motor cable.
- The output bridge of the converter unit is faulty. Consult with an ABB representative.

PPCC CONNECTION

- The fiber optic connection to the NINT card is faulty. Check the fiber optic cables connected to the power plates.

DC OVERVOLTAGE

- The DC link voltage is excessive. The DC overvoltage trigger limit is 1.3 · U1max.
- Make sure the overvoltage controller is open (Parameter 20.05).
- Check for static or transient overvoltage in the main supply voltage.
- Check Brake Chopper and Resistor (if used).
- Check deceleration time.
- Use the Release for Stop function (if applicable).
- Add Brake Chopper and Braking Resistor to the frequency converter.

SUPPLY PHASE

- The DC link voltage is fluctuating. This could be due to a missing phase in the mains supply, a blown fuse, or an internal fault in the rectifier bridge.
- Check mains supply fuses.
- Check for imbalance in the mains supply source.

DC UNDERVOLTAGE

- The DC link voltage is insufficient. This could be due to a missing phase in the mains supply, a blown fuse, or an internal fault in the rectifier bridge.
- Check the mains supply source and fuses.

These steps are the first steps to help you solve the specified problems. If the problem persists or more technical support is needed, it is important to contact the manufacturer or authorized service.

OVER FREQUENCY

- The motor is spinning faster than the allowed maximum speed. This could be due to incorrectly set minimum/maximum speed, insufficient braking torque, or changes in load while using a torque reference.
- The trigger level is 40 Hz above the operating range absolute maximum speed limit (Direct Torque Control mode active) or frequency limit (Scalar Control active).
- Check minimum/maximum speed settings.
- Check the adequacy of motor braking torque.
- Check the applicability of torque control.
- Check the need for Brake Chopper and Resistor(s).

START INHIBITED

- The optional start inhibit hardware logic has been activated. Check the start inhibit circuit (NGPS card).

GROUND FAULT

- There is an imbalance in the incoming mains system. This could be due to the motor, motor cable, or an internal fault.
- Check the motor.
- Check the motor cable.
- Ensure there are no power factor correction capacitors or surge suppressors in the motor cable.

AI < MIN FUNCTION

- An analog control signal is below the minimum allowed value. This could be due to an incorrect signal level or a fault in the control wiring.
- Check appropriate analog control signal levels.
- Check control wiring.
- Check AI < MIN FUNCTION Error Function parameters.

PANEL LOSS

- The Control Panel or Drives Window selected as the active control point for the ACS 600 has lost communication.
- Check that the panel is connected to the correct connector.
- Check the Control Panel connector.
- Reinstall the Control Panel on the mounting platform.
- Check PANEL LOSS Error Function parameters.
- Check DrivesWindow connection.

EXTERNAL FAULT

- There is a fault in one of the external devices.
- Check external devices for faults.
- Check the 30.03 EXTERNAL FAULT Parameter.

MOTOR TEMPERATURE

- The motor temperature is too high (or appears too high). This could be due to overload, insufficient motor power, insufficient cooling, or incorrect starting data.
- Check motor ratings and load.
- Check starting data.
- Check MOTOR TEMPERATURE Error Function parameters.

THERMISTOR

- The motor thermal protection mode THERMISTOR has been selected and the temperature is excessive.
- Check motor ratings and load.
- Check starting data.
- Check thermistor connections (digital input for DI6).

I/O COMMUNICATION

- The NAMC card has a communication error on CH1 channel. Electromagnetic interference may be involved or there may be an internal fault in the NIOC card.
- Check the connections of fiber optic cables on NAMC channel CH1.
- Check all I/O modules connected to
