What is FlashDrop?

Hi everyone,
The ABB MFDT-01 FlashDrop device is a portable programming tool that allows you to quickly and easily edit and copy parameters for ABB drives, even when the drives are not connected to a power source. This device enables the creation, editing, loading of parameter sets to drives, and adjustment of visibility settings. It is compatible with various ABB drive models and can be used both in the field and in the warehouse, saving time and labor during mechanical installation.
Key Features of FlashDrop
Rapid Parameterization: Used for quickly setting and copying drive parameters. Parameterization can be performed without the drive being connected to a power source.
Visibility Settings: Allows specific parameters to be hidden or shown, helping to protect the drive and connected equipment.
Flexibility: Parameters can be loaded onto drives before delivery from the warehouse or during mechanical installation on-site.
Components of the FlashDrop Device
Main Unit: The core body of the FlashDrop device.
FlashDrop Control Panel: The user interface for setting parameters.
Programming Tip: Used to transfer parameters to the drive.

Charging
Before using the FlashDrop device, it must be charged. During charging:
Initialization (orange light): Lights up when the charger is connected to the FlashDrop.
Charging (red light): Lights up while the battery is charging.
Finalizing Charge (green light blinking): Lights up when the battery is nearly full.
Fully Charged (green light): Lights up when the battery is fully charged.
Usage and Parameterization
Using the FlashDrop device for parameterization involves four main stages:
Creating a Parameter Set:
Use DrivePM software or the FlashDrop control panel to create a parameter set.
The parameter set can be created from a template or a DriveWindowLight parameter file.
Editing the Parameter Set:
Edit parameter values and visibility settings.
Loading the Parameter Set to the Drive:
Load the parameter set to the drive while it is disconnected from the power source.
Activating the Parameters:
When power is applied to the drive, the loaded parameter values and visibility settings become active.
FlashDrop Control Panel
The control panel serves as the user interface for the device and operates in various modes:
Parameters Mode: Used to edit, load, and delete parameter sets.
Time and Date Mode: Allows setting the time and date on the device.
Info Mode: Provides information about the drive connected to the device.
General Usage Principles
Menus and Keys: Navigate and perform functions using the menus and keys on the control panel, which include context-sensitive soft keys, up/down keys, and selection keys.
Error Messages: When an error occurs, the control panel displays an error message. Press the key to reset errors.
The ABB MFDT-01 FlashDrop device is a powerful tool that facilitates quick and efficient drive parameterization, even when drives are not connected to a power source. It allows for the adjustment of parameter visibility and offers easy usage and setup, with broad compatibility across various ABB drive models.
