ACS 140 Manuals

ABB ACS 140 Machinery Drive
0.12 kW - 2.2 kW Supply Voltage 200 - 480 V
Unique features include fast and extensive I/O, PID control, application macros, numerous installation possibilities, and support for 200 - 480 V, in both single-phase or three-phase. It offers more value for money, such as the possibility to have an IP 21 enclosure, very fast and accurate control, extremely good repeatability, and cost optimization without the panel.
Mounting options allow for conventional wall mounting, time-saving DIN rail mounting, and flange-mounting, with the heatsink located outside the enclosure, thus externalizing the major share of power loss.
For spaces where a heatsink might be a limitation, heatsinkless series drives are available as standard, requiring the user to provide an adequately cooled installation surface. More details are available in the ACS 140 User's Manual.
The Factory application macro is designed for use without a control panel, offering a general-purpose I/O configuration. The ABB Standard and 3-wire application macros, typically used in Europe and the United States respectively, are configured for general-purpose applications, providing two additional pre-set speeds over the factory application macro.
The Alternate application macro is tailored for a sequence of DI-control signals used when alternating the drive's direction. The Motor Potentiometer application macro offers a cost-effective interface for PLCs to vary the drive's speed using digital signals alone.
The Hand/Auto application macro is commonly used in HVAC applications, while the PID Control application macro suits closed-loop control systems, like pressure and flow control. The Premagnetise application macro allows for rapid starting by eliminating the usual delay for flux buildup in the motor. The Positioning application macro suits simple positioning tasks, ideal for conveyor systems moving items a set distance.
The Pump and Fan Control (PFC) application macro can drive loads such as pumps, fans, or compressor stations with one to four pumps, enabling speed control for one pump and on/off control for the others.
Mains connection details include a power range of 0.12 - 2.2 kW, voltage support for 1-phase and 3-phase from 200 to 240 V, ±10%, and 3-phase from 380 to 480 V, ±10%, with a frequency of 48 to 63 Hz and a power factor of 0.98.
Motor connection specifications highlight voltage handling from 0 to U SUPPLY in 3-phase, frequency up to 300 Hz, and various loading and overload capacities depending on the ambient temperature and specific conditions.
Programmable control connections and protection limits for overvoltage and undervoltage are detailed, alongside environmental limits specifying operation temperatures, altitude considerations, and relative humidity conditions, ensuring compliance with IP 20 protection class, and adherence to Low Voltage and EMC Directives, with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 quality assurance, and CE, UL, cUL, and C-Tick approvals.
Options available include control panels, RS 485/232 adapters, DriveWindow Light 2 software, extension cables with IP 65 Kits for control panels, EMC IP 20 input filters, braking units and choppers, input and output chokes, NEMA 1/ IP 21 Installation kits, and fieldbus modules, providing a comprehensive solution tailored to various industrial needs.
