ACH550 Fault codes
Hi everyone,
ABB ACH 550 VFD
To clear the error history, follow these steps:
+ In the control panel, select parameter 0401 in Parameters mode.
+ Press EDIT.
+ Press the UP and DOWN buttons simultaneously.
+ Press SAVE.
Correcting Alarms
The recommended corrective action for alarms is as follows:
+ Determine if the alarms need to be corrected (not always necessary).
+ Use the following Alarm list to identify and address the root cause of the problem.
These instructions provide important information for maintaining and diagnosing the ACH550 drive, enabling users to effectively reset errors, clear error history, and correct alarms. If any issue persists or further assistance is needed, it is important to contact technical support or your local service provider.
Error Code 1: Overcurrent (OVERCURRENT)
+ Meaning: The output current is excessively high.
+ Solution:
- Check and correct any excessive motor load.
- Check settings for insufficient acceleration time (parameters 2202 ACCELERATION TIME 1 and 2205 ACCELERATION TIME 2).
- Check for and correct any faults in the motor, motor cables, or connections.
Error Code 2: DC Overvoltage (DC OVERVOLT)
+ Meaning: The intermediate circuit DC voltage is excessively high.
+ Solution:
- Check for and correct any static or transient overvoltages in the input power supply.
- Check settings for insufficient deceleration time (parameters 2203 DECELERATION TIME 1 and 2206 DECELERATION TIME 2).
- If applicable, check and correct any undersized brake chopper.
Error Code 3: Drive Overtemperature (DEV OVERTEMP)
+ Meaning: The drive cooling block is overheated. Temperature is above or at the limit.
+ Solution:
- Check for and correct any fan failures.
- Check for and clear any blockages in the airflow.
- Clean any dirt or dust accumulation in the cooling block.
- Check and, if possible, lower the excessive ambient temperature.
- Check and correct any excessive motor load.
Error Code 4: Short Circuit (SHORT CIRC)
+ Meaning: Fault current. There may be a short circuit in the motor cable or motor.
+ Solution:
- Check for a short circuit in the motor cable or motor.
- Check for and correct any supply faults.
Error Code 5: Reserved (RESERVED)
+ Meaning: Not in use.
+ Solution: This error code does not require any action.
Error Code 6: DC Undervoltage (DC UNDERVOLT)
+ Meaning: The intermediate circuit DC voltage is insufficient.
+ Solution:
- Check for any missing phases in the input power supply.
- Check for and replace any blown fuses.
- Check for and correct any low voltages in the mains.
Error Code 7: AI1 Loss (AI1 LOSS)
+ Meaning: Loss of Analog Input 1. The analog input value is below the AI1 ERROR LIMIT (3021).
+ Solution:
- Check the source and connection of the analog input.
- Check and adjust the settings of AI1 ERROR LIMIT (3021) and 3001 AI< MIN FUNCTION parameters.
Error Code 8: AI2 Loss (AI2 LOSS)
+ Meaning: Loss of Analog Input 2. The analog input value is below the AI2 ERROR LIMIT (3022).
Solution:
+ Check the source and connection of the analog input.
+ Check and adjust the settings of AI2 ERROR LIMIT (3022) and 3001 AI< MIN FUNCTION parameters.
Error Code 9: Motor Overtemperature (MOT OVERTEMP)
+ Meaning: The motor is too hot according to the drive's estimation.
+ Solution:
- Check if the motor is overloaded.
- Adjust the parameters used for the estimation (3005…3009).
- Check the temperature sensors and Group 35: MOTOR TEMP MEAS parameters.
Error Code 10: Panel Loss (PANEL LOSS)
+ Meaning: Panel communication is lost and:
- The drive is in local control mode (the control panel shows HAND), or
- The drive is in remote control mode (AUTO) and is configured to accept start/stop, direction, or reference from the control panel.
+ Solution:
- Check communication lines and connections.
- Check the 3002 PANEL COMM ERR parameter.
- Check Group 10: START/STOP/DIR and Group 11: REFERENCE SELECT parameters (if the drive operation is AUTO).
Error Code 11: ID Run Failure (ID RUN FAIL)
+ Meaning: Motor ID run was not successfully completed.
+ Solution:
- Check and correct motor connections if necessary.
Error Code 12: Motor Stall (MOTOR STALL)
+ Meaning: The motor or process is in a stall condition. The motor is operating in the stall zone.
+ Solution:
- Check and correct any overload.
- Check for insufficient motor power.
- Check and adjust parameters 3010…3012.
Error Code 13: Reserved (RESERVED)
+ Meaning: Not in use.
+ Solution: This error code does not require any action.
Error Code 14: External Fault 1 (EXT FAULT 1)
+ Meaning: The digital input defined to report the first external fault is active.
+ Solution:
- Refer to parameter 3003 EXTERNAL FAULT 1.
Error Code 15: External Fault 2 (EXT FAULT 2)
+ Meaning: The digital input defined to report the second external fault is active.
+ Solution:
- Refer to parameter 3004 EXTERNAL FAULT 2.
Error Code 16: Earth Fault (EARTH FAULT)
+ Meaning: The load on the input power system is unbalanced.
+ Solution:
- Check for and correct any faults in the motor or motor cable.
- Ensure the motor cable does not exceed the maximum specified length.
- Reduce the earth fault detection level with parameter 3028 earth fault lvl.
- Note: Disabling the earth fault may void the warranty.
