Functions

The IC697CSE925 provides State Logic, Relay Ladder Logic, and C programming functionalities for real-time control of machines, processes, and material handling systems. The AD641 software is used for State Logic programming, while IC641 (MS-DOS®) software is utilized for Relay Ladder Logic, C programming, and all configuration tasks.

The CPU communicates with I/O and smart option modules via the rack-mounted backplane (IC697CHS750, 782, 783, 790, 791) using the VME C.1 Standard format. The 1 Mbyte battery-backed CMOS RAM memory board is integral to the CPU module and does not require a separate order.

Operation, Protection, and Module Status

The IC697CSE925 can be controlled by a three-position RUN/STOP switch or remotely via the attached programmer. Program and configuration data can be locked either by software passwords or manually through the memory protect keyswitch. When the keyswitch is in the protected position, program and configuration data cannot be modified.

Status indicators are provided by four green LEDs on the front of the module, showing the state of the CPU.

Installation

Proper installation is crucial for the reliable operation of the IC697CSE925. The following steps outline the process:

Connect the battery to one of the module’s battery connectors.
Set the toggle switch to STOP.
Set the keyswitch to Memory Protection OFF.
Ensure that the rack power is off.
Install the CPU module in slot 1 of rack 0.
    Turn on power.

Once powered on, the top LED should blink. After successful diagnostics, the top LED will remain on, indicating the CPU is ready for programming.

Serial Port and Communication

The IC697CSE925 features an RS-485 compatible 15-pin D-connector serial port for communication. The CPU can be connected to a programming computer or other serial devices through an RS-422/RS-485 to RS-232 converter (IC690ACC900) or RS-232 to RS-422 Miniconverter (IC690ACC901).

Configuration

Configuration of the IC697 CPU and I/O system is done using IC641 (MS-DOS®) programming software. There are no DIP switches or jumpers for configuration. The CPU verifies the actual module and rack configuration during power-up and periodically during operation. Any configuration mismatch is reported to the CPU alarm processor for fault handling.

Battery Information

A lithium battery (IC697ACC701) powers the memory and operates the calendar clock when the CPU is disconnected from external power. It is essential to replace the battery before removing the old one to prevent data loss. If a low battery is detected during power-up, the Module OK LED will not remain on.

Removing the Module

Follow these steps when removing the CPU module:

Firmly grasp the board at the top and bottom of the cover.
Press the rack clips to disengage the module from the rack.
Remove the board from the backplane connector and slide it out of the card guide.

These procedures ensure the safe handling of the IC697CSE925 module.
