IC697CPM925
IC697CPM925 - 64 MHz, 32-Bit Floating Point Central Processing Unit, 1 MB Memory
The IC697CPM925 is a 64 MHz, 32-bit Central Processing Unit (CPU) with floating point calculation support and 1 MB of battery-backed memory. Designed for industrial automation systems, this CPU provides high-speed, real-time control for a variety of machines and processes. It is equipped with advanced programming and communication features, supporting a large number of inputs and outputs.
Key Features
Processor: 64 MHz 80486DX2 microprocessor.
Memory Capacity: 1 MB of battery-backed CMOS RAM.
I/O Capacity: Supports 12K inputs and outputs (any mix).
Analog I/O: Supports up to 8K analog I/O.
Processing Speed: Executes Boolean functions in 0.4 microseconds.
Programming: Configurable using MS-DOS or Windows software, with Ethernet TCP/IP and SNP port for communication.
Battery-backed Calendar Clock: Maintains date and time even during power outages.
Memory Protection: Secured by a keyswitch or password protection.
LED Indicators: Four LEDs display the module’s status and operation mode.
In-System Firmware Upgrade: Firmware can be updated without disassembling the module using flash memory.
No DIP Switches or Jumpers: Fully software-configurable, requiring no manual switch setting.
Functions
Floating Point Calculations: The IC697CPM925 is a single-slot programmable CPU designed to perform real-time control of machines, processes, and material handling systems. It supports floating point calculations and communicates with I/O and smart option modules over the rack-mounted backplane using the VME C.1 Standard.
Supported modules include all IC697 LAN interface modules, coprocessors, bus controllers for IC660/IC661 I/O, and communications modules, along with discrete and analog I/O modules.
Installation and Operation
To install the IC697CPM925, it must be placed in slot 1 of rack 0. The module is controlled via a three-position RUN/STOP switch or remotely using programming software. The CPU’s status is shown on four green LEDs, indicating operation, memory protection status, and output states. Forced air cooling is required if the ambient temperature exceeds 40°C (104°F). The CPU is ready to be programmed after successful power-up diagnostics, with the top LED blinking to indicate diagnostics.
Memory and Expansion
The CPU includes 1 MB of battery-backed CMOS RAM for storing program and data memory. The operating system firmware is stored in flash memory, which allows in-system upgrades without the need to remove or replace components.
Serial and Ethernet Communication
The 15-pin D-connector on the CPU provides a serial connection for communication with programming computers or other devices. Ethernet communication requires the installation of an Ethernet Interface module, such as IC697CMM741 or IC697CMM742.
Cooling Requirements
For proper operation, the CPM 925 requires forced air cooling in environments where the ambient temperature exceeds 40°C. Fan assemblies such as IC697ACC721/724 can be directly mounted onto the rack to provide the necessary cooling.
Programmer Connection
The CPU is programmable via parallel or Ethernet connections, and its firmware can be updated through the RS-485 compatible serial port.
The IC697CPM925 provides high-speed processing and floating-point calculation support in a compact single-slot design. Its 1 MB memory, advanced communication options, and real-time control capabilities make it a powerful solution for industrial automation applications requiring high performance and reliability.
