IC693PTM101 Power Transducer (PTM)

Overview: The IC693PTM101 Power Transducer (PTM) is used to measure electrical power consumption or monitor voltage between an electrical generator and the power grid. It connects to current and potential transformers provided by the user, which send input signals to the PTM for data calculation. This data can be used by a Series 90-30 PLC for reporting, fault monitoring, generator control, or load management applications.

Components:

   • PTM Processing Module (PTMPM): Mounted in a Series 90-30 PLC rack.
   • PTM Interface Module (PTMIM): A panel-mounted circuit board that connects to the transformers.
   • Interface cable: Connects the PTMPM to the PTMIM circuit board.

Difference Between IC693PTM100 and IC693PTM101: The only difference is the cable length:

   • PTM100: 19" (0.5 meter) cable.
   • PTM101: 39" (1 meter) cable.

Capabilities: The PTM can perform one of the following tasks (controlled by a %Q bit):

   • Measure power parameters for three single-phase circuits.
   • Measure power for one 3-wire single-phase circuit (120/240 VAC).
   • Measure power for one 3-phase circuit (Wye or Delta type).
   • Compare power between a 3-phase generator and a power grid phase.

Operating Modes:

   • Power Monitor Mode: Measures single-phase or 3-phase AC voltages and currents, calculates power values (Wye or Delta for 3-phase).
   • Synchro Monitor Mode: Measures generator and power grid voltages to calculate voltage, frequency, and phase difference.

Data Transfer: The PTMPM module communicates with the PLC CPU, sending %Q and %AQ commands. It receives and reports data such as voltage, current, power, and fault statuses back to the PLC (%I and %AI words).

Compatibility: The PTM works with all Series 90-30 CPUs and can be mounted in any baseplate (CPU, Expansion, Remote).

Dimensions:

   • PTMPM Module: Standard size, mounts in a Series 90-30 baseplate.
   • PTMIM Module: 114 mm long, 76 mm wide, mounted on a 35 mm DIN rail.

Indicator LEDs:

   • F (Fault): Red LED, ON means there is a fault (missing phase, over-range voltage/current, or phase polarity fault).
   • R (Running): Green LED, ON means the module is working properly.
