IC693PCM311

IC693PCM311 Programmable Coprocessor Module (PCM)

The Programmable Coprocessor Module (PCM) is a high-performance add-on module designed for the Series 90-30 Modular CPUs. However, it is important to note that it will not work with Embedded CPU models (311, 313, or 323). The PCM supports various protocols, including Modbus RTU and GE Fanuc CCM, and it allows programming in MegaBasic and C languages. There’s even a free RTU Master program available for download from the GE Fanuc website that can be used with this module.

This module features two independent ports, both accessible from a single front-panel connector, offering flexible communication options for your system.
Versions and Memory Details:

The PCM is available in three different versions, each with different total memory and user-available MegaBasic program memory:

IC693PCM300: 160K total memory, 35K MegaBasic program memory
IC693PCM301: 192K total memory, 47K MegaBasic program memory
IC693PCM311: 640K total memory, 190K MegaBasic program memory

Applications:

These modules are commonly used to communicate with programming terminals, CRTs, barcode readers, scales, printers, ASCII devices, RTU master devices, and more.
Module Location:

A PCM can be installed in any slot within the CPU baseplate, except for Slot 1 (which is always reserved for the CPU module). Additionally, PCM modules cannot be installed in Expansion or Remote racks, nor can they work in Embedded CPU systems (such as CPU311, 313, or 323).
Supported Protocols:

    Modbus RTU
    GE Fanuc CCM

LED Indicator Lights:

OK: Normally ON, indicating the module is functioning properly.
US1 and US2: By default, these LEDs flash to show activity on Port 1 and Port 2, respectively. If there’s no activity, they remain OFF. You can also customize these LEDs for different purposes—refer to GFK-0255 for details.

Restart Button:

The Restart Button allows you to switch the module between RUN and PROGRAM modes. For more information on how these modes work, refer to GFK-0255, Chapter 1.
Memory Backup Battery:

A lithium battery provides backup for the RAM memory, and it’s located in a battery holder on the PCM faceplate. Before installation, this battery is disconnected for shipment, so you’ll need to connect it before the module goes into service. If you store the module for a long period of time, disconnect the battery unless you want to preserve the program stored in RAM. Replacement batteries are available under catalog number IC693ACC301 (packaged in pairs).
Cables:

IC693CBL304/305: These Y cables split the two PCM port connections from the single connector on the front of the PCM module. Each PCM module comes with one of these cables. The IC693CBL304 is for PCM300, while IC693CBL305 is for PCM301 and PCM311.
IC690CBL701/702/705: These cables provide a direct RS-232 connection between the PCM and various programmer serial ports. These cables are not included with the PCM modules but are available for separate purchase.

The IC693PCM311 is your go-to module when you need to enhance communication and programming capabilities in your industrial system. Whether you’re integrating barcode readers or working with RTU master devices, this module is designed to make your operations smoother and more efficient.
