IC693PCM301
IC693PCM301 Programmable Coprocessor Module (PCM)
The Programmable Coprocessor Module (PCM) is a high-performance add-on for Series 90-30 Modular CPUs. It doesn’t work with Embedded CPUs like models 311, 313, or 323, but it's designed to boost communication capabilities in industrial settings. Supporting protocols like Modbus RTU and GE Fanuc CCM, the PCM also allows programming in MegaBasic and C languages.
For those working with RTU Master devices, there’s a free program available for download on the GE Fanuc website to help you set up the PCM for RTU Master applications. This module has two separate communication ports, which you can access through a single connector on the front panel.
PCM Versions and Memory:
Here are the versions of the PCM module, along with their respective memory capacities:
IC693PCM300: 160K total memory, 35K MegaBasic program memory
IC693PCM301: 192K total memory, 47K MegaBasic program memory
IC693PCM311: 640K total memory, 190K MegaBasic program memory
Applications:
The PCM module is versatile and is used to interface with devices like programming terminals, CRTs, barcode readers, scales, printers, and various ASCII devices. It's especially useful when communicating with RTU Master devices in industrial applications.
Module Location:
You can install the PCM in any slot of the CPU baseplate, except for Slot 1 (which is reserved for the CPU). Keep in mind, it won’t function in Expansion or Remote racks, and it's incompatible with Embedded CPU models (311, 313, or 323).
Supported Protocols:
Modbus RTU
GE Fanuc CCM
LED Indicators:
OK: This LED is typically ON, signaling that the module is functioning properly.
US1 and US2: These LEDs flash when there's activity on Port 1 and Port 2, respectively. If there’s no activity, both LEDs remain OFF. You can customize their behavior if needed.
Restart Button:
The Restart button allows you to switch the module between RUN mode and PROGRAM mode.
Memory Backup Battery:
The module comes with a lithium battery to back up the RAM memory. The battery is disconnected when the unit is shipped, so you’ll need to connect it before installing the PCM. If you plan to store the PCM for a long period, disconnect the battery unless you need to keep the program stored in RAM. Replacement batteries can be ordered using catalog number IC693ACC301 (sold in packs of two).
Cables:
IC693CBL304/305: These cables split the two PCM port connections from the single connector on the front panel. The IC693CBL304 is for PCM300, while the IC693CBL305 is for PCM301 and PCM311.
IC690CBL701/702/705: These provide a direct RS-232 connection between the PCM and various serial ports for programming. These are not included with the PCM but can be ordered separately.
The IC693PCM301 is perfect for adding advanced communication capabilities to your Series 90-30 PLC. Whether you're setting up a connection with barcode readers, RTU masters, or printers, this coprocessor has you covered with easy-to-use programming options and robust features.
