IC693PCM300
IC693PCM300 Programmable Coprocessor Module (PCM)
The Programmable Coprocessor Module (PCM) is a high-performance processor designed to work with Series 90-30 Modular CPUs. However, it is not compatible with Embedded CPU models like 311, 313, or 323. This module supports Modbus RTU and GE Fanuc CCM protocols, and it can be programmed using either MegaBasic or C programming languages. If you want to use this module as an RTU Master, you can download a free program from the GE Fanuc website.
The PCM module comes with two ports, which can both be accessed from a single front panel connector.
PCM Versions and Memory Capacities
The PCM module is available in three different versions, each with varying memory capacities:
IC693PCM300: 160K total memory, 35K user MegaBasic program memory
IC693PCM301: 192K total memory, 47K user MegaBasic program memory
IC693PCM311: 640K total memory, 190K user MegaBasic program memory
Applications:
This module is typically used for communication with devices like programming terminals, CRTs, barcode readers, scales, printers, and ASCII devices. It's also useful in RTU Master device communications.
Module Location:
The PCM module must be installed in any slot in the CPU baseplate except for Slot 1 (marked CPU/1, which is reserved for the CPU itself). It won’t work in Expansion or Remote racks, and it’s not compatible with Embedded CPUs like 311, 313, or 323.
Supported Protocols:
Modbus RTU
GE Fanuc CCM
LED Indicators:
OK: Typically ON, indicating that the module is functioning properly.
US1 and US2: By default, these LEDs flash to show activity on Port 1 and Port 2. You can customize these indicators if needed.
Restart Button:
This button is used to switch the module between RUN mode or PROGRAM mode.
Memory Backup Battery:
The module has a lithium battery to back up the RAM memory. This battery is disconnected during shipment and needs to be connected before installation. If you’re storing the PCM module for an extended period, you can disconnect the battery unless you want to keep the program in RAM memory. Replacement batteries can be ordered using the catalog number IC693ACC301 (sold in packages of two).
Cables:
IC693CBL304/305: These cables split out the two PCM port connections from the single connector on the front panel. IC693CBL304 is for PCM300, while IC693CBL305 is for PCM301 and PCM311.
IC690CBL701/702/705: These cables provide a direct RS-232 connection between the PCM and serial ports.
This module is perfect for applications that require high-speed communication with external devices. Whether you're working with barcode readers, scales, or RTU master devices, the PCM module will handle the job efficiently, all while being easy to configure and manage.
