IC693ADC311 Alphanumeric Display Coprocessor Module
The Alphanumeric Display Coprocessor module (IC693ADC311) is a coprocessor for the Series 90-30 PLC CPU and is used in a CIMPLICITY 90-ADS system. It performs CIMPLICITY 90-ADS display, report, and alarm functions when interfaced with an Operator Interface Terminal (OIT). The OIT can be various GE Fanuc devices, a VT100 compatible terminal, or an IBM-compatible personal computer running TERMF. Communication between the Series 90-30 CPU and the ADC is done via the PLC system backplane.
Features of the Alphanumeric Display Coprocessor:
Single slot module: Compact design, fits into the CPU baseplate.
Runs CIMPLICITY 90-ADS System software: The essential software for display, reporting, and alarm functions.
8 MHz, 80C188 microprocessor: Provides high-performance data processing.
High-performance access to PLC memory: Ensures efficient data handling.
Real-time calendar clock synchronized to the PLC: Keeps time and synchronizes with the PLC for accurate real-time functions.
Reset pushbutton and three status LEDs: Easy monitoring and control of the module’s status.
Soft Configuration: No need for DIP switches or jumpers, allowing for easy setup.
User-friendly system building interface: Fill-in-the-blank forms for a simple configuration process.
Pop-up windows and pull-down menus: Makes the user interface more intuitive and easier to navigate.
Fifteen user-definable function keys per screen: Allows customization of functions for easy access.
Printer logging to a serial printer: Connects to a serial printer for report logging.
Ports and Communication:
Multiple Alphanumeric Display Coprocessors can be installed in a single Series 90-30 PLC system with modular CPUs (331 and higher). They must be placed in the CPU baseplate.
Port 1: Typically used to connect to the RS-232 serial COM port of a computer running GE Fanuc PCM Development Software (PCOP). Alternatively, it can connect to an RS-232 printer for logging.
Port 2: Pre-configured as a 19.2 Kbaud RS-232 port for connecting to a terminal for input and display output.
Configuration and Programming:
Serial port configuration and programming are done using Workmaster II, Workmaster, or an IBM-compatible PC with PCM Development Software (PCOP) installed.
Port 1: Used for programming and configuration, with a default setting of 19,200 bps.
PCM Development Software is used to configure the serial port parameters and install the CIMPLICITY 90-ADS software onto the ADC.
There are no DIP switches or jumpers to set; all configuration is done through the software.
Cables:
IC693CBL305: This Wye cable splits the two ADC port connections from the single front connector and is supplied with the module.
IC690CBL702: This cable provides a direct RS-232 connection between the ADC and another serial device such as a personal computer (not included with the module).
If you're looking for a module to handle CIMPLICITY 90-ADS display, reporting, and alarms with ease, the IC693ADC311 Alphanumeric Display Coprocessor is a perfect fit.
