IC693ALG442

Analog Current/Voltage Combination Module 4 Input/2 Output Channels (IC693ALG442)

The Analog Current/Voltage Combination Input/Output module provides up to 4 differential input channels and 2 single-ended output channels, supporting both current and voltage modes. Each channel can be configured individually for the current or voltage range required for your application. All configuration settings for the module are managed through software, except for a jumper needed to select the current input mode. Configurations are made using the Alspa P8–25/35/05 software or the Alspa C80–35 Hand–Held Programmer.

Input Ranges

Each analog input channel can support the following ranges:

0 to +10 volts (unipolar) – default range
    –10 to +10 volts (bipolar)
    0 to 20 mA
    4 to 20 mA
    4 to 20 mA Enhanced

The default input range is 0 to +10 volts (unipolar), where user data is scaled from 0V (count = 0) to 10V (count = 32767).

Output Ranges

The analog output channels provide the following ranges:

0 to +10 volts (unipolar) – default range
    –10 to +10 volts (bipolar)
    0 to 20 mA
    4 to 20 mA

Each output channel can convert binary data (15 to 16 bits depending on the selected range) into an analog signal, and in current modes, an open-wire fault is reported to the CPU for each channel. The module can retain the last state or reset to a known low state upon system power loss, depending on configuration.

Special Features

Ramp Mode: Each output can be configured to ramp between values, with steps occurring every millisecond until the target value is reached.
Alarm Limits: High and low alarm limits can be set for all input channels, and open-wire faults in current output modes are reported to the CPU.
Input Update Rate: All six analog channels may be updated on every scan cycle, depending on the scan time.

Input Modes and Current/Voltage Ranges

Current Operation:

In the 4 to 20 mA range, 4 mA corresponds to a count of 0, and 20 mA corresponds to 32767.
In the 0 to 20 mA range, 0 mA corresponds to a count of 0, and 20 mA corresponds to 32767. Full 12-bit resolution is available in this range.
Enhanced 4 to 20 mA range: 0 mA corresponds to a count of –8000, and 4 mA corresponds to 0, while 20 mA corresponds to +32767. This range offers additional fault detection for open-wire scenarios between 4 mA and 0 mA.

Voltage Operation:

    In the 0 to +10 V range, user data is scaled from 0V (count = 0) to +10V (count = 32767).
    In the –10 to +10 V range, –10V corresponds to a count of –32767, and +10V corresponds to a count of +32767.

Output Modes and Current/Voltage Ranges

Current Output:

In the 4 to 20 mA range, 4 mA corresponds to 0, and 20 mA corresponds to 32767.
In the 0 to 20 mA range, 0 mA corresponds to 0, and 20 mA corresponds to 32000, with up to 32767 providing a maximum output of ~20.5 mA.

Voltage Output:

    In 0 to +10 V mode, 0V corresponds to 0, and +10V corresponds to 32000, with up to 32767 providing ~10.24V.
In –10 to +10 V mode, –10V corresponds to –32000, and +10V corresponds to +32000, with an overrange up to ±10.24V.
