IC693ALG223
IC693ALG223 Analog Current Input Module (16 Channels)
Overview: This module lets you convert up to 16 analog current inputs into digital values that your PLC can work with. It’s got three current input ranges:
4 to 20 mA
0 to 20 mA
4 to 20 mA Enhanced
Current Ranges:
The default range is 4 to 20 mA, where 4 mA equals a value of 0, and 20 mA equals 32000.
For the 0 to 20 mA range, 0 mA equals 0, and 20 mA equals 32000.
The Enhanced 4 to 20 mA range allows more detail below 4 mA. Here, 0 mA equals -8000, 4 mA equals 0, and 20 mA equals 32000.
The Enhanced range is great for detecting low current alarms (like open wire conditions). It also gives more flexibility for setting alarms when current drops below 4 mA.
Power and LED Indicators:
The module needs power from both the PLC's 5V bus and an external 24V supply.
There are two green LEDs:
MODULE OK: Tells you if the module is working fine.
User Supply OK: Shows if the external 24V is properly powering the analog side.
Connections:
You can install this module in any I/O slot of a 5 or 10-slot baseplate.
The module uses %AI references for inputs and %I references for alarm statuses.
Performance Specs:
Resolution: You get precise measurements down to 4 μA for the 4-20 mA range and 5 μA for the 0-20 mA and Enhanced ranges.
Update Rate: It updates all 16 channels in 13 milliseconds.
Accuracy: Typically within ±0.25% of full scale at 25°C.
Usage: It’s important to know how many modules your PLC system can handle. For instance, a Model 351 PLC can hold up to 51 of these modules, while a Model 311 can hold only 4.
This breakdown should help you understand the key features of the IC693ALG223 module, keeping it practical for real-world electrical work.
