Commander SE VFD

Commander SE is a digital AC drive produced by Control Techniques. It is an economical microdrive that provides flexible and efficient control of AC motors. The Commander SE is equipped with a range of features such as open loop vector control, multiple parameter levels, QuicKey cloning module, configurable analog and digital I/O, built-in independent PID control, and many others. These features make the Commander SE suitable for use in a variety of applications such as pumps, conveyors, mixers, fans, ovens, and more.

Commander SE is a digital AC drive that comes in different power ratings, ranging from 1/3 to 3 horsepower (HP) for 1-phase 230 VAC, 1 to 10 HP for 3-phase 230 VAC, and 1 to 50 HP for 3-phase 460 VAC. It has a NEMA 1 (IP21) enclosure and is equipped with RS485 serial communications with Modbus RTU protocol, as well as plug-in communications options such as Profibus-DP, DeviceNet, and Interbus-S. The drive can be easily configured using the SESoft Windows-based configuration tool, and it also includes a QuicKey cloning module for fast and cost-effective drive-to-drive parameter transfer and storage. The Commander SE is ideal for a wide range of applications, including pumps, conveyors, mixers, fans, ovens, and more, and it features advanced menus for ultimate control and flexibility. It is a complete motor solution.

Commander SE is a digital AC drive with a range of input and output modules available. It has standard communication through RS485/Modbus RTU and can also be connected to various networks such as Profibus-DP, Interbus-S, DeviceNet, and CANOpen. The PL1 module has a bi-polar analog input of ±10 VDC and the PL2 module has a 0 to +10 VDC analog output. The PL3 module has a relay contact that is normally open. The Bi-polar Analog Input Card (SE51) allows for control of the motor's direction through a speed potentiometer or external bi-polar speed reference instead of the forward/reverse terminal selector. The Universal Keypad (CTKP) and the Operator Interface Unit (CTIU) are available as accessories and provide easy-to-use interfaces for viewing and modifying drive data. The CTIU has a back-lit LCD display and supports multiple font sizes, real-time trends, and background programs.

The Commander SE digital AC drive has several performance advantages:

Open loop vector control with true space vector modulation: This precise control algorithm provides full torque down to 1 Hz for exceptional performance.

Multiple parameter levels: This feature allows the drive to be customized to meet the user’s needs with simple (level 1), flexible (level 2), and advanced (level 3) options.

QuicKey cloning module: This provides fast and cost-effective drive-to-drive parameter transfer and storage without the need for a PC.

Terminal connection drawings and Level 1 parameters listed on the drive’s front cover: This provides easy reference for drive set-up and maintenance.

Static auto-tune: This allows fast motor/drive optimization without motor shaft rotation.

Two sets of motor map parameters saved in the drive’s memory: This allows for sequenced switching between two motors with different operating characteristics.

Configurable analog and digital I/O: This customizes the drive to the specific application.

S-ramp accel/decel profiling: This provides smooth speed transitions, minimizing machine “jerk”.

Built-in independent PID control: This eliminates the need for an external PID controller while providing “outer loop” control of a process variable.

Built-in MOP (motorized potentiometer): This emulates the functionality of the traditional MOP with increase/decrease pushbuttons.

8 preset speeds with independent accel/decel ramps: This allows predetermined speed sequencing via logic inputs.

Selectable stopping modes: This includes ramp, coast, DC injection, and dynamic braking (except size 1), providing added flexibility for many application requirements.

Full EMC compliance with optional filter: This meets global standards for worldwide use.
