Microflex e100
The ABB MicroFlex e100 servo drive is engineered to handle a broad spectrum of motion control applications, from basic point-to-point movements to more intricate setups. It features integrated Ethernet technology including POWERLINK for synchronized control of multiple axes, as well as Modbus TCP and Ethernet RAW for versatile interactions with PLCs, industrial PCs, and other controllers.
Key to its functionality is its advanced servo motor control capability, capable of managing both rotary and linear brushless servo motors. The drive includes a Universal Encoder Interface (UEI) which supports a wide range of encoders—such as TTL incremental, SinCos, BiSS, SSI, and EnDat—through simple software configuration.
The drive is programmable with Mint, a language designed specifically for motion control. This allows for multitasking across communications, logic, motion, and human-machine interface (HMI) interactions, simplifying complex programming tasks. Motion functionalities such as homing, indexing, on-the-fly target changes, and dual microsecond position latch inputs for registration are standard features.
In terms of design, the MicroFlex e100 combines real-time Ethernet POWERLINK technology, advanced motor control, and compatibility with single or three-phase power (105 to 250 V AC), all within a compact framework. This drive also supports EtherNet/IP and has fully integrated motor encoder feedback systems, tailored for high-performance motion applications.
Complementing the MicroFlex e100, the NextMove e100 controller manages a real-time Ethernet network of drives, I/O devices, and sensors, streamlining system design and installation while delivering high-performance control. The Mint Workbench PC tool facilitates easy setup, commissioning, and monitoring through a unified interface, enhancing usability with features like an oscilloscope, parameter management, and motion programming.
Lastly, the drive’s physical and electrical characteristics include a single IP20 frame size, fanless operation under specific conditions, built-in EMC filter compliant with IEC 61800-3 standards, and opto-isolated drive I/O with low latency inputs and outputs suitable for precise control tasks. Additional features such as CANopen port, status LEDs, and USB and serial communications ports extend its versatility, making it a cost-effective solution for single-axis applications and beyond.
