ACS 55 Fault codes
Installation and Start-up Steps:
- Check the Delivery (Pg. 7): Verify that all components have been received.
- Installation Environment (Pg. 10): Ensure that the environment is suitable for the ACS55, considering factors like temperature, humidity, and altitude.
- Mount the Unit (Pg. 12-13): Securely install the VFD in the designated location.
- Standard Settings (Pg. 14): Check if the default settings (50 Hz nominal frequency, pump or fan load, 50 Hz maximum output frequency) are appropriate. Adjust the DIP switches if necessary.
- Motor I NOM Potentiometer (Pg. 16): Adjust this potentiometer to match the rated current of the motor, ensuring proper operation of the motor thermal protection function.
- ACC/DEC Time Potentiometer (Pg. 16): Adjust the acceleration/deceleration time if needed.
- Connect Power and Motor Cables (Pg. 17): Properly connect the cables.
- Connect Control Wires (Pg. 18): Ensure control wires are correctly connected.
- Power On (Green LED Illuminated): Turn on the power. The motor will rotate if the start signal is active.
- Set Speed Reference and Activate Start Signal: Adjust the speed reference and activate the start signal to accelerate the motor to the desired speed.
Environmental Conditions:
- Air Temperature: Operates between -20°C (-4°F) and +40°C (104°F) with nominal load. Can operate up to +50°C (122°F) if the continuous output current is max. 85% of the nominal output current I2.
- Altitude: Suitable for altitudes from 0 to 2000 meters (0 to 6,600 feet). Performance decreases at higher altitudes.
- Relative Humidity: Less than 95%, non-condensing.
- Contamination Levels: Must be free from conductive dust, corrosive materials, and comply with specific classes for chemical gases and solid particles.
Status Indications and Fault Tracing:
- The ACS55 has two status indication LEDs (green and red).
- Green LED On, Red LED Off: Normal operation.
- Green LED On, Red LED Blinking: A protective function has been activated. The number of blinks indicates the fault code.
- Both LEDs Blinking: The ACS55 will automatically reset within 3 seconds if the AUTORESET is ON.
- Fault Codes:
+ 1 DC Overvoltage: Check the mains voltage or increase the deceleration ramp time.
+ 2 DC Undervoltage: Check the mains voltage.
+ 3 Output Short Circuit: Check motor windings and cable.
+ 4 Output Overcurrent: Increase acceleration time or check motor and drive sizes.
+ 5 Reserved
+ 6 Analogue Input Value Low: Active if AI OFFSET is ON.
+ 7 Motor Overload (I2t Overload): Check load and motor size, and verify the MOTOR I NOM potentiometer setting.
+ 8 Inverter Overload or Excessive Internal Temperature: Check load or drive cooling.
+ 9 Other Fault: Internal error. Try turning the power off and on again. If the problem persists, replace the unit.
+ 10 Parametrization Fault: Both LEDs will blink. This indicates that the DIP switches have been moved from the default setting after the drive has been parametrized with the DriveConfig tool. Return the switches to the default position.
This interpretation covers the installation, environmental conditions, and fault tracing for the ABB ACS55 VFD.
