Compare the operating head and actuation direction, NO/NC contact arrangement, current and voltage ratings for the load, mounting dimensions, cable entry and IP rating. Verify the number of NO/NC contacts and the terminal diagram. For switching a contactor coil, check the ratings under the applicable load category, such as AC-15 or DC-13. For a low-current PLC input, check the minimum switching load. The operating travel, actuation angle and mounting holes must suit the existing arrangement. Similar housings or a matching brand do not make units interchangeable.

Where an application requires a safety switch, verify the direct opening action and the specific model's suitability using the manufacturer's documentation. A functioning limit switch or an NC contact alone does not establish suitability for a safety application.
