What is the Range of Wi-Fi?

The range of Wi-Fi can vary depending on the Wi-Fi standard being used, the device, the frequency band, and environmental factors. As a general rule, a typical Wi-Fi router or access point used in a home can provide a range of up to about 150 feet (46 meters) in an unobstructed area. This range is generally greater when used on the 2.4 GHz frequency band, as this band typically provides a larger coverage area.
On the 5 GHz frequency band, the range will typically be shorter, as this band typically provides less interference and higher data rates but has a shorter coverage area.
However, the range of a Wi-Fi signal is subject to environmental factors. Walls, doors, and other physical obstructions can cause the signal to weaken. Other Wi-Fi networks and electronic devices can also interfere with the Wi-Fi signal.
To extend the range, solutions like Wi-Fi repeaters or mesh networks can be used. These devices communicate with each other and the main router to spread the Wi-Fi signal over a larger area.
